@zillertaler:

Excellent piece of software you have here. I've been using it now for quite some time and I have never had any problems. I have found that the few times that I could not connect it happened if I used the SE software to sync the calendar, and contacts with Outlook prior to using MPE. A simple reboot resolves that problem.

I have one request though.

I like to keep all my text messages (sent and received) but seeing as the K750 are limited to 200 I have to archive it and then delete from my phone.

Currently when selecting to copy to archive you have the prompt stating that this message is already in the archive, do you want to carry on. When saying yes, it creates a duplicate of the message. Could this be changed to rather overwrite the message in the archive? Secondly, in the same prompt when selecting No, you have to say no to every message allready in the archive, could there be axtra buttons included stating "Yes to all" or "No to all" and when saying yest to overwrite the original in the archive.

Thanks, Keep up the good work with this application!

@zillertaler:

After some events that happened to me, is there any way you could in a next version fit it in to import contacts from outlook via a .csv file. On another post I described how I cannot sync using the pc suite anymore and I have lost a lot of contacts on my phone. Luckly you had the backup option and I have used it so I was able to restore from backup. (I use version 1.2.13)

One fault on the backup feature though. When backing up the phone, when it gets to protected themes etc, it cannot back it up then the backup process stops. I have an O2 branded phone and when the backup came to the O2 theme it crashed.

Backup of themes? But themes aren't in the list of items that the application do a backup of... exatly what does the application backup?

Posted by zillertaler
@Uncle Bob: Import from csv-files already works. In the phonebook of myphoneexplorer press the right mousebutton to show the contextmenu. Then goto Import/Export>Import... . In the filedialog which will apper set the filefilter to "Comma seperated values" and select the file to import. A dialog to set the fieldnames will appear.

There are protected themes so the download of them is not possible ? Are you sure ? Can you show me a screenshot of the errormessage ?

@CyberVisitor: Check in the backupwizard the option Files, then MyPhoneExplorer will list all folders (if they are not empty).

Best regards FJ

I select the backup options as listed below

The backup then starts and runs smoothly

Until it gets here, then when clicking OK, the backup closes down. As you can see from the progress bar, the backup was not complete yet.

However, if you select to backup but not checking the files box on the right, the backup does a basic backup of your phonebook OK

Hope this clarrifies my problem description.

@zillertaler

I think most of us would want to be able to backup profiles, Internet settings, MMS setting, SMS settings, Code memory etc. for the K750 along with the few options you have when doing a backup...

If the phone is lost and replaced, it's re-entering all that info that's hard...

Great update! It's a must for all K750 users

@zillertaler, really great job man! Much faster than fma especially in uploading files. Hope a "New Message" window will popup when a new message arrives..but overall a Great software.

Hy there

I've released Version 1.2 from MyPhoneExplorer. I made some new features (backupwizard, calendarview,...). Also i fixed many bugs and added 4 new languages.

Get it here: http://members.aon.at/fwechsel/index.html

Have Fun !!

Jep cool software, but the Danish translation sucks

Posted by HSK2840
Much much much better than FMA! FMA couldn't even read my phonebook..(w800). Thumbs up for someone who can write a decent piece of software! But please trash that Danish translation, I'm sure that is done by some pre-school kiddie

@zillertaler
When selecting CONTACTS > PHONE on the sidebar, only the Home, Mobile and Email columns are displayed.

How do I get the Work, Fax and Others columns displayed?

haha who cares, it makes sense enough...

The software is great. I'd rather he code in internet settings backup or profile backup rather than worry about the translation

Posted by zillertaler
@Carkitter: Rightclick the columnheader of the contact-list and you can select the columns with should be displayed.

@all: I don't know the danish language so i can't fix it. The most people have 2 hands and 10 fingers. If you have problems with the danish languagefile then fix this and send me the corrected file back.

Maybe this isnt the right question, but can it be downloaded via wap

Posted by sailaab
http://members.aon.at/fwechsel/Dateien/MyPhoneExplorer_Setup.exe works from my S700 (I had to hunt up the link thru Google Waps' proxy though)

@sasha-SE: How do you connect your phone ? USB-cable, Bluetooth,... ?

Posted by mrao
hehe....did you notice what the blue icon for this program looks like...
I doubt if the creator wanted it to work with Blokias.

But future versions may support more phones...dunno bout noks though

Posted by max_wedge
bluequill unless you get ultracheap gprs, it may be expensive to download the whole file via wap. My gprs is 2c per KB so it would cost me $20!!

Hey everyone,

Ive been a FMA user, tried out this app, very clean and simple, very elegant. Great job on it.

My question is this:
I am looking to switch from S700 to K750 in a few days...I want to back up EVERYTHING (FULL contacts list, SMS list, files etc)...then send it over to the K750.

Will the backup feature in this software do that?

Will it let me use the backup from an S700 to apply to a different model phone?

Thanks guys, Im trying to find something that will facilitate a full backup... my S700 has a problem where when I try to send all contacts (via BT or IR) the phone crashes! So, I have to use software.

thanks again

Posted by sailaab
Matthew- it would do those. But I am still at a loss to find an effective, easy on the lazy guy way of backing up contents of Bookmarks, Applications, Games folders :) MyPhoneExplorer too HAS NOT BEEN THEIR YET ! Its an amazing and very effective Utility and I use it daily for back-ups. Works great over BlueTooth. But I doubt if a S700 back-up file would get imported to update K7 in the softwares' current version. > And yeah, the Text msgs. LOSE ALL THE ORIGINAL, TIME/ DATE STAMPING once you put it back.

Posted by zillertaler
@sailaab: Its NOT possible to backup java-apps of SE-Phones. There is no software which can do this. I think about adding bookmarks to MyPhoneExplorer. Could be present in the next release.

Posted by Blade Runner
It is possible, read this thread

Posted by Vipera ammodytes
now everything works fine

Posted by carkitter
That thread shows that the files are encrypted or 'digital rights protected' to prevent file transfer, therfore Zillertaler is correct. No current software can overcome the encryption or protection.

Hi guys, just dloaded MPE and I must say that I'm VERY happy with it. I downloaded fma and still can't get it to connect to my phone as of the moment. The mpe offered a very nice, if not better software.

Just one question guys, when I go to the options. How much baudrate and OBEX packetsize should I choose to have optimal data transfer?

Posted by numb
Im using 921600 baud, 4096 packetsize with my K750 and the USB cable - works a treat

Either start with the highest settings, test, and then work your way down if you have any problems. Or test all of them and see which gives you best performance.

Posted by Salisbury_Steak
I see, I thought that there was a rule of some sort. Basically, higher baudrate means higher transfer speed right?

But what is packetsize for?

Hello,

Just started using this yesterday, and its fantastic!!!! Much faster and stable than FMA. In the guestbook on the official site, i asked about the chance of transferring my archive SMS from FMA to MPE.

The difference between the 2 is the format that they are saved. I exported from FMA and had a look at the CSV to see what it was made up of. A lot of useless data. The MPE seems to be in this format:

ARCHIV,[num1],[num2],[PDU],[Date]

So i took the right data from the CSV and recontructed the SMS.dat file for MPE. From the creator, I just need one or two things answered if possible:

1) [num1] seems to say whether sent or received, right? I think 1 is for IN and 3 is for OUT. Can you confirm??

2) What is [num2] for? is it just a number???

Any help would be great. Once i can transfer my SMS then I can get rid of FMA for good!!!

=========
Suggestions
=========

- Folder List for file explorer
- preview window for photo files
- Ability to create folders for the Messages Archive

Great Work!!!

JP

Posted by zillertaler
[num2] is the internal storagenumber of the phone. But let it be, i made a converter - look at my guestbook, i answered.

Folderlist -> next Version
Picture preview -> select the file-rightclick-properties, in the next version there is a direct poreview in the filebrowser.
Folders in SMS-Archive will take a while

Best regards FJ

@ ZillerTaler:

1. Is there a way to delete notes in the phone? (Or have I just not found it yet?)
2. Is there a way to have the calendar show appointments in am/pm time?

great program!

i wonder if there's a way to backup the "birthday" info in contacts. i occassionaly check the birthday of friends and because i restored the contacts from pc (from outlook actually), i can no longer check the birthday in contacts. now i've checked mpe contacts and there's no field for birthday. i can take a search in the calendar because it's recurring, but i actually want the birthday saved and backup-ed in contacts. Thanks!

Hot damn, this is extremely sexy!

Thank you very very much for putting together such an awesome little program zillertaler!

A "small" request for the next version of MPE that I think a lot of users would find handy:

Could you please include support for importing from the 'ical' calendar format? (please please please) It is used by a number of popular applications including Mozilla Calendar/Sunbird (http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/) and Rainlendar (http://vapaa.dc.inet.fi/~rainy/index.php).

At this point in time users are forced to use the SonyEricsson software and syncronise with Microsoft Outlook. Personally I prefer to use alternate email clients and Rainlendar (highly recommended program if anyone here hasn't tried it before) which can export to and use ical files. Unfortunately there is no easy way for me to syncronise this with my phone and so I must either manually enter everything in or live without.

I know it might be difficult to do but if you can it would be very very awesome.

If you would like some additional info on the ical standard, here are some starter links:

http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2445.txt (official spec)
http://www.zvon.org/tmRFC/RFC2445/Output/ (official spec in easier to read format)
http://www.innerjoin.org/iCalendar/ (a whole bunch of extra information)

Once again thank you for all your hard work!

@Salisbury_Steak: Notes only work with K700 and some other modells, AM/PM in calendar: i don't think this is important.

@josephhh: Birthdays can be edited in the next version

@Maelstrom: ical is already implemented. Daylist in calendar>rightclick>Export/Import>Import... - select the filter "Sunbird ical Format"

@zillertaler

Woah! That is the one thing that I've always hoped for in a phone management program. Thank you both for having put it in there in the past and for instructions on how to find it.

I might have to see if I can work out how to send you a small donation through paypal

Thanks for the quick response as well Zillertaler. Amazing program.

I just uninstalled fma. hahaha.

Hi,
Great simple software. Would like to report a bug (I think). I have done an update from 1.x to 1.2.x. But still in the SMS inbox the name of the sender is not showing up. I have synchronised my addressed book but still the same.
Another suggestion, would it possible in the next version to select the location of archive directory?

Posted by SlyT
Hi,

Is this compatible with x64 environments, or would I need to wait for the w800i x64 drivers and then it would work automatically ?

Thanks

(I can run it on a non x64 machine, which is where im having to do a lot of odd bits, but I would prefer to be able to do more on the x64. Now the SE phone explorer definiatley wont work on x64, but if yours could that would be perfect - ta)

how about a global hotkey for sending sms?

great bit of software this!!!

I suppose there's no way to view my mms messages?...

Posted by jonnywells
Ok i might just be blind but can you view whats on the memory stick with this program? I know you can just do it though windows )

Posted by Del
Yes you can, click on files and then double click on memory stick

Posted by AppA
Can you use the software over bluetooth?

Posted by jonnywells
I only have phone memory under "files"

Posted by numb
First, I have no connection with the author or the software what so ever, but would still like to make a litle plee here to all the happy satisfied users.

If you can afford it, do make a small donation to support the work being done by the author, I did, and really think its worth supporting initiatives like this. I cant even buy a commercial software at higher cost that works as good as this does. I tried

It doesnt have to be much, every single penny being donated is a token of the appreciation which can motivate developers to continue developing freeware for the benefit of us all. I allways donate a small something when I occasionally find some freeware that I really appreciate. Just to let the developer know the work is being appreciated.

Posted by zillertaler
@Salisbury_Steak: Currently there is no way to view mms-messages
@jonnywells: If you connect your phone via USB-Cable you cannot browse the memory-stick. In the next version its possible to browse the memory-stick also via USB-Cable
@AppA: The software can be used with all known ways: Infrared, Bluetooth and most the cables
@numb: You're right - only cause of the donations i am on work for better updates (and this is a very hard work). Very thanks for your donation. And to the others: I do not earn anything with MyPhoneExplorer. This project costs money and i use the donations to minimize the costs for me

So - thanks in advance
Best regards FJ
