PSP UMD discs cracked

Complete versions of several PSP games have surfaced on the web. These "ISO" format files are essentially the contents of the entire UMD disc that the game came on. As this is no easy way of creating UMD discs unless you're a games publisher, then that doesn't mean that pirate UMD discs will be available soon. But it will encourage the emulator scene to try and create a PC emulator to play PSP games on your PC.

well that didnt take long, i do hope sony will release blank umd discs but i am sure it will never happen

Posted by axxxr
No i actually think sony will release UMD as blank format eventually. The umd medium has has so much potentional, almost as much as the CD when it first came out that i dont think even sony can ignore its money making potentional.

Posted by haynesycop
it would be great if they did

but the money they make from blank umd would affect there psp games profits as no one would buy them

well they wouldnt need to

I think the PSP is gonna be B I G. But hell no am i queuing in Tescos for 3 days just to get one

I'm certain they will release blank UMDs.
They wouldn't call it a UNIVERSAL MEDIA Disc if it was going to be just for PSP games.

@ vanquish
Why would u be waiting in Tescos to get a PSP when u can buy one NOW online! I've had mine sine JANUARY now!!!

@ axxxr
Just one thing. Why did u post a pic of that PSP showing the FF movie?

Because I have no money

And it was an expression, of all the idiots that did that for the PS2!

Someone will probably workout a way of putting it on a large enough memory stick.

Sony are probably quite worried this has happened so soon considering they make a fairly large loss on each consoled sold - they only make money mainly through sales of games. It probably was bad enough when people realised they didn't have to buy UMD movies when they could just rip DVDs and play them on memoery sticks with the advantage of it being cheaper and the battery lasting longer.

I've read on a few sites that Sony have already said they won't be releasing UMD writing hardware. One of the main reasons they made UMDs is to avoid piracy. If only Sony can make the disks then no-one can make perfect copies.
