I had to manually uninstall my Sony Ericsson software (for my soon-to-be ex T300) and noticed an icon still remained in the Control Panel. How can I get rid of it?

Did you use the 'Add/Remove Programs' in the Control Panel to uninstall the software? The 'Phone Monitor' should have been removed during the uninstall process.

Try shutting down your PC, and then turn it on again.

No, like I said, I had to manually uninstall the software. It was not working under the add/remove module.

I had this once before. It happened on a Win98 PC. I think, during the install process, something or a file got corrupted. So, when the the time came for me to remove the entire program, parts of it were still left behind.

I finally managed to remove it (everything) by re-installing the deleted software and then uninstalling it properly. I suggest that you do the same.

Otherwise, you would need to look for a third party app that can remove 'junk' from your harddrive. I think Norton has one, but it's part of a PC Suite and a bit expensive (just to remove one stray app).

I already tried a new install over the existing one, and was still unable to uninstall the program via add/remove programs. That's why I had to manually remove it.

I had the same problem with my Windows 7 PC I installed the Sony Ericsson suite then found it would not work correctly with Windows 7 so I tried to uninstall it and ended up manually deleting it but the phone monitor options remained in the control panel.
The way I removed it was to look in C:\\Windows\\SysWOW64 folder and search for files *.cpl which are control panel items. I found the one for the phone monitor options which started with ecs*.cpl sorry I can't remember the whole name but that should find it, I then deleted the file and restarted my PC. After the reboot the phone monitor option link was no longer in the control panel, problem solved. Not sure if this works with other OS but it might be worth searching your PC for the above.
