The 'mark all posts read' function doesn't work and on the 1st page of the Rumour Thread I can't navigate up and down the page using the links Oli has provided.

Is anyone else expriencing this?

Posted by masseur
yes, it appears to be putting http:/www.esato.com/board/ in front of the specified # address tag

I'm sure laffen will take a look soon

I don't know if this is related, but the 'latest posts' feature isn't working for me now.

Before, The list of new posts on the forum front page would 'clear' if I didn't visit Esato for a while, i.e. it would not show new posts that I had seen on the front page before, even if I hadn't read them.

Now, new posts just keep getting added to the list. the 'New posts' button in the top left reads '726 new' despite having visited esato several times today.

This is happening in FireFox 3 on both Vista and Ubuntu 10.4 Linux. I've cleared cookies etc. and it's still happening.

Posted by Sammy_boy
I had that problem with new posts not clearing when clicking the 'mark all posts read' button, though clearing my cache and cookies seems to have sorted that, though it now takes me to 'we have no record of your previous visit, here's the posts from the last 5 days' rather than just the empty new posts screen that it did before.

Hope all that makes sense!

Sorry about this. I have done some changes to the cookie handling. It might take some time for the old cookies to expire, and the new one to be active. Try to erase all Esato cookies again

The problem that Goldenface highlighted, with my quick links in my 09 Portfolio thread not working, is still a problem. Can this be fixed? Or is there another way I can go about getting them to work?

Bad link laffen

Ah well, clearing the cookies one more time in the traditional fashion seems to have done the trick now anyway.

Thanks Laffen

Yup, in firefox go to Tools > Clear Private Data > Check Clear Cookies

and using opera

Look here

yes, i have that problem too, i keep seeing ALL todays posts, instead of just the new ones ?

Posted by Cycovision
Just Clear your cookies, matey, and it should be alright again. If you're using t'internet explorer it's under tools - internet options on the first tab. Make sure that the checkbox for 'cookies' is ticked before you hit the 'clear' button since it isn't by default.

Clearing the cookies doesn't work for me. Initially it looks like it has worked but further presses of "Mark all as read" brings back lots of messages

Yep same thing is happening for me. I am seeing 5921 new messages right now, and we all know how often I'm around! I'm also getting logged out really often. Up to every half an hour even.

I had this "new posts" problem when this topic started, but manually deleting the cookies solved the problem for me and its been working as normal since... and that was with both IE6 on XP at work, and IE7 on Vista on my laptop

I'm still experiencing it. When I press the "mark all posts as read" button, it doesn't clear them.

On a post I made on another thread, esato deleted half of the message. All I did was write it then press submit, and when I checked back on the topic page, only some of the words of my post were showing.

I really dont know whether this related to this topic but lately i am facing strange problem. Mostly i log on to estao from mobile using teashark. I have bookmarked the site with my name and password. So i dont have to login everytime. But lately i have to login. And after logging in when i open any thread, i am logged out. I have already cleared cookies from teashark server. I have reinstalled it again, but nothing happened.
I can use it from operamini very well. Without trouble.

I was clearing the cookies but it didn't work. Anyway, it seems to be back to normal now - it was fixed in the last ten mins whilst I was making a cuppa.

Thanks.

We have some cookie issue at the moment. I'm working on it. Hopefully fixed by the end of the day.

Posted by yea g
Well its changed - now instead of getting 5000, I'm getting none (just says no new posts since your last visit, even though there has been amny posts since then)

Posted by Sammy_boy
Same here, good to know that Laffen's on the job though

Posted by laffen
Everything should be back to normal now. If you still are having problem: Sign out by clicking on the Logout button top of this page before loggin in again. It should not be necessary to clear the cookies manually but as a last resort that could be done by clicking on this link

Posted by tranced
it's working fine here. im using ie6 and win xp pro sp2. i have 178277 new posts

im not using my work's pc nor home though.

The latest posts thing seems to be fixed now but there is still the problem Goldenface brought up in the first post of this thread. In this topic I have made quick links to take you where you want to go faster, for example the spy-shots section or the announced phones section.

However since the recent changes, clicking any of them takes you to the mobile forum index page. I know it's nothing wrong with my code because I edit it outside of Esato and paste it into the post editor when it is ready. So something is wrong and it's stopping these from working! Any chance this can be fixed?

Thanks in advance.

^^^

Your links haven't got the full php arguments in the URL before the anchor?

If I put:

http://www.esato.com/board/vi[....]?topic=177537&start=0#announce

directly in the browser in works fine?

So is the board somehow stripping out the arguments?

EDIT: Clicking the link above works too, so the board didn't strip the arguments out there?

What I have written is: <a href="#latest">go</a>

That should work right? For some reason it changes when I submit.

Posted by Cycovision
No, because it's php you need to use the full url including the arguments and then the anchor directly after the "&start=0" bit, like I did in my previous post.

Alternatively, you can alter the "start=0" bit to direct to a specific post within the thread.

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
Ok I'm at work so I'll try later when I can think about it more.

How come it changed then? Cause this was working before the forum changes.

Posted by masseur
@cyco, your link doesn't work for me as I have my preferences set to show posts in descending date order

also, the link style as specified by Muhammad-Oli is what I have used here several times myself and it was working in the 2009 portfolio topic until recently

Posted by Cycovision
I don't know. It should technically work with your links anyway, but I have sometimes had trouble with anchors on dynamic pages before and so just use this method to make sure

@Masseur

Bugger! Never thought of that.

It must be tagging the absolute address on to the url then, i.e. pointing to "esato.com/board/#announce" instead of just "#announce"

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
I really don't know what that means to be honest. Does it mean I just need to have the link to the portfolio page in there somewhere to make it work?

Posted by Cycovision
^^^

No, if you look at the page source code, your links are absolutely correct. Looks like it might be a bug or board setting after all

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
Awesome. So can we get this fixed Laffen?

Posted by laffen
@Muhammad-Oli

I have changed the source code of your post which solved the problem

You can't use relative hashes anymore. <a href="#placetogo">link</a> won't work because the base path of all forums pages now are http://www.esato.com/board/. This is a tag in the HTML code (< base href="http://www.esato.com/board/" >) and has nothing to do with PHP.

It used to be /board/a_page.php without the http://www.esato.com. I changed the base path when adding the members.esato.com/ subdomain. Sorry about that.

These links should work
- http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=177537#latest
- /board/viewtopic.php?topic=177537#latest
- viewtopic.php?topic=177537#latest

This won't
- #latest

Thanks for clearing that up Laffen. I appreciate the work you put in round here.

laffen,

is it possible to provide fallback solution to upload images in old way?

I can't get new image upload working in 3 browsers - Opera 9.64, IE 6, FF (don't know FF version).
The Opera has no [Upload] button (blue rect too small), the FF shows upload button but after file selection uploading hangs and then FF hangs. IE shows upload link image while loading ("incomplete image" IE icon), then it disappears.

I specifically turned off the firewall ads blocking (if some script components can't load) - to no effect.

well, it is nice, the ajax thing - it just doesn't work in my case

Is there any reason why my post in this thread here no longer has coloured text? I only just noticed that all the text which used to be blue (and hasn't been changed recently) is now black. It doesn't look as good as it did anymore. Any fix?

Posted by tranced
@tequilacat: you can still use the old way: http://www.esato.com/board/uploadimage.php

i'd forgotten about it

I have taken a look at your source code but I can't find any reference to colour text. Can you please elaborate? Which text was blue before?
