This is a repost from the Esato News forum because I want your feedback on the matter.
- New member pages http://members.esato.com/laffen (swap laffen with your member name)
- Posibility to have a custom avatar next to your posts. Go to your member page and activate the avatar feature. I know some of you members are using the gravatar.com service allready.
Might be some bugs on the member page, but I have tested and validated the page with all modern browsers.

it's quite amusing. i love the part of the twitter as well. im having no problems with the new page.
would it be possible to have a twitter link in the author field? besides PM, WWW, EMAIL?

another thing: the "Follow tranced on Twitter" link will take me to the esato's twitter account and not the member's(mine).

on your profile, at the avatar field, click activate. give it some seconds/minutes though

I like the new profile pages. Are they going to eventually replace the old profile pages?
Not a fan of the custom avatars. I prefer Esato as it was, without them. It kept the place looking tidy. And while I appreciate that you probably made the avatars small to keep the place tidy, I think they are so small that they aren't worth having.
Keep up the good work though. The new features you are bringing to Esato are great!

why is it, that whenever I am away on holiday, there is either some really good update to Esato, or some SE phone announcement!
looking at it the other way, if I am going to be away on holiday, you should place your bets on either of the two probable events happening! (...and with that tip... I'll take a cut if the winning please!)

This place had to take some steps to drag itself kicking and screaming in to the 21st century, so, one small step for mankind, but a huge step in the right direction for Esato!

@to all:
just create an account at www.gravatar.com with the same email address you set your esato's account. once you've done this, use the image you desire. now, we come back to esato, click on your username at the author field and you will see an "avatar" field. you will have to click in the activate link and voila!
give it some secs/mins to get it working.

mines don't seem to be working. cuz on my esato i have my yahoo.co.uk addy which i dont have the password for anymore. When i set up the avatar on that other site. I registered with my mac email addy and thats where it sent an activation email to. Now I can't seem to use that email here until its updated on my esato.

When you update your user profile, it may take some time for the system to update the images shown in the forums. User data is cached for some time to reduce database queries.
The small avatar is a compromise. Doing it this way, we allow some member customization without being too intrusive with large blinking images. Sign in and move the mouse over the avatar to view a larger version of the avatars.

its just a quick hack of an avatar I use on other sites which shows fireworks over the Sydney Harbour Bridge on New Years Eve.
It doesn't look so clear in this small size so I will have to rework it sometime

How can I find out what email address is associated with my esato account? Im not sure what it is and cant see anything listed in the profile page.
