Hi there

I'm currently own a W910i and have had nothing but problems with it since the day i had it. I am thinking about getting a new phone but after extensive research i find that there are few decent phones on the market at the moment.

The one phone that has caught my eye though is the K850i. I just wanted to know if anyone has had any problems with this phone and if so what where they and how did SE deal with them.

Thanks for any information

The K850i is more unreliable than the W910i (which is usually quite reliable).

My K8 is amazing. I know people had troublesome examples but when it works its fantastic.

K850 is awesome really. There are the odd reboots and the whole possibility of BROD but I mean your just as likely to run over the thing. I had mine sine October and only had 1 real issue which was fixed with a reflash on Davinci. Bugs will be ironed out soon and it will be an absolutely wicked phone.

never had one single BROD or reboot on my k850

sure, some people have troubles with the software, but it can be fixed.
(but i can tell you one thing, of all thousands and thousands k850 who have been sold in the world, most of them dont get any BROD)

and then you have the camera (big smile).....

A mobile phone mag named What Mobile gave the K850i only 3 stars cos of its bugs even though they said its potential as a phone was amazing. Now the bugs have been fixed well most of them they uped its rating to 4 stars. Need i say more.

I had K850i from 2007. It's the best phone I've ever had. Never had any annoying problem with this phone.

When I bought it at first time, the media player is slow. But after updating the firmware to R1EA037, the phone is getting fast!

Very stable phone, never had any BROD.

But some people reported unstable and BROD K850i. Most of them is branded phone (like O2 and Orange.)

The unbranded phone seems more stable. In my country there are no branded phone.

CMIIW, in my country, the BROD or another problem seems rarely happen.

Some of my friends had K850i too, and they don't have any problem with their K850i, even restart issue.

IMO, I think it's because SE accidentally release corrupted firmware (something like invalid CRC) on some region?

So I hear some people said that some menu option is not working, etc, etc. It could lead to fatal error.

That's just my opinion, can be wrong though

And the camera is very good, though not excellent. It's enough to make everyday good quality photos.

The problem is, we expect the cam quality will improved so much, like SE does in K750 to K800.

As the quality just improved a little bit in K850i,
most of us dissappointed.

We expected too high standard for SE. Another reason, we heard that N82 beats K850i in this cam thingy.

If we never heard that, and best cameraphone award goes to K850i, I thought we will be very happy enough

@plankgatan,
Do you use cloudy whitebalance on your phone? Can you tell me the settings?

Thanks,

Hiron

sure mate.

first the hardware: velvet blue. 100% unbranded & unlocked

software: new 037

camera settings (now days): document EV -0.7 + daylight, (no stabilzer)
or auto + daylight (sometimes cloudy) (no stabilzer)

ps. now when the camera works so good i should never even think about getting N82.

...and did I say there was/is? 5 stars would mean it works as good as it was intended and 4 would mean it's good but can be better.

I was going to get this phone but decided to wait and see how the early adopters fared, and it wasn't good. I waited till April and realised it was going to take forever so I decided to try another manufacturer. I traded off a few things like the 5mp, Hsdpa, fm radio, the gorgeous screen, the flash but gained the most important two things for me, the excellent build quality of my V8 and the stability it offers. No crashes or hangs on my phone.

Most of the K850 users have BROD issues, bad build quality, crashes, dust under the lense and non or malfunctioning touch keys to mention a few. Someone on this forum warned me against getting the phone when I was so intent on buying it and I listened and don't regret it one bit.

So to Dell1942, think before you leap and crash badly.
