@plankgatan, seems like you describing a facelift instead of the successor.
Apparently the successor (code-name Shiho) is going to be a slider with either a 7.2mp or 8mp camera.

I see. Normally all the decent Sony Ericsson camera phones come out summer time don't they so if nothing announced yet then it might be a while.

think its little silly that the Swedish head designer (Creative Design Centre in Lund, Sweden) was one of the people who changed the "K" to "C".
Cybershoots phones have using "K" (K = Kamera) since K700...afterall its a Swedish design behind the Cybershoot family

First off, it's not a smartphone and 2.4 is quite adequate for a feature phone. Second, "VGA at least"? Where do you come from? The future? There's not a single phone with a VGA screen out on the mass market. And besides, I doubt A3 will run on VGA resolutions.

I hope they put a properly sized sensor for this resolution and a bigger lens. I wish SE could be just once serious about the Cyber-shot branding and make a camphone that can actually produce camera quality photos! But I agree with what a wise man once said: "Jag är skeptisk..."

I think the optical zoom is not confirmed yet

PK, only said some upcoming phone has amazing and good zoom, but nothing more, he didn't said Shiho nor K850i successor or even an optical zoom...
but it's just a guess, with some rumers around that it will have 3x optical zoom, some says it will be specially with the last info about Shiho being more camera than a phone !!

the camera should have the 1/2.5" Sony DSC-G1 sensor, with 6 million effective pixels.
and with a ISO range of:

• ISO 200
• ISO 400
• ISO 800
• ISO 1000

Good sensor but the ISO range you wish for require much bigger lens than what is sensible on a camphone. I'd be happy with max ISO 200 with the same sensor.

Not exactly mass market, but the new docomo phones from japan have VGA displays
VGA screens are coming out to our markets and that is the X1 and Diamond. But yeah, no Cybershot phones are going to get VGA screens for at least another 2-3 years.

If I remember correctly, I was able to take pics in ISO range from 100 to 1600 with my K750i, by using super-mode drivers.

i emailed SE and they said It will be a very long time before another K series phone comes out. and they recommended other ranges of phones.
