Capture and share life’s precious moments: The new Sony Ericsson K770 Cyber-shot™ phone
14 August 2007
Slimline Cyber-shot™ phone
Just 14.5 mm thin
Your camera always with you
3.2 megapixel camera with Photo fix
Your memories shared
Easy printing to A4 size and fast sharing over on-line picture gallery
London, 14th August 2007. Sony Ericsson’s new K770 Cyber-shot™ phone, announced today, is a digital camera, a photo album and an elegant phone all in-one. Still a phone first and foremost, it allows you to send and share your photos as soon as you’ve taken them.
At just 14.5mm slim and finished in a fashionable Truffle Brown, the K770 can take pictures as good as a standalone digital camera; pictures can be printed up to A4 size. The camera can also be used for video and comes with a powerful photo light for indoor photo-taking and filming. As with all Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot™ phones, ‘ease of use’ sits at the heart of the experience. To take a picture, just slide open the lens cover, find your subject and shoot.
“The best moments in life always seem to happen when you don’t have a camera,” says Helene Barnekow, Head of Central Marketing at Sony Ericsson. “If you like the idea of having a snapshot camera on your phone, and want shots that look good in your family album, then the K770 is perfect.” Barnekow continues, “The real beauty of the K770 is that you can let your friends and family share your experiences. Once you’ve captured the moment, it’s easy to print the picture or upload it immediately to your personal on-line gallery.”
Great results
Capturing the perfect picture is easy with the K770 Cyber-shot™ phone. Just slide open the lens cover and you’re ready. Once in camera mode the 1.9inch screen becomes the viewfinder, the Cyber-shot™ based menu becomes visible and you’ll also see eight lit icons appear across the phones keypad. These serve as 1-click shortcuts to each of the camera’s key functions, such as picture size and photo light.
If you take a spontaneous snapshot and the light conditions are poor, simply select Photo fix for PC-free photo editing on your phone.
Shared instantly
The most direct way to share your photos is perhaps through a slide show on the K770’s screen. When you want to show them to people that are not around, though, you can post your pictures to your own ‘blogsite’ or on-line gallery. Share the web site address to share your photos.
If you want to transfer photos swiftly from the K770 Cyber-shot™ phone to your PC or laptop, then simply use the USB Cable provided in-box to drag and drop them from one to the other. Alternatively, if you prefer to print your pictures, the 3.2 megapixel camera with auto focus delivers picture quality that is good enough to print your photo out at upto A4 size (297mm x 210 mm). You can even connect your K770 direct to a printer using PictBridge™ for PC-free printing.
Expect more
The K770 is about much more than just camera features. Supporting Memory Stick Micro™ (M2™), the K770 comes with a 256 MB memory card that lets you store up to 200 photos of the best quality. Peruse your photo album whilst listening to your favourite music tracks on the in-built media player. Or tune in to the FM radio with RDS that seeks out clear reception when you’re on-the-move.
With all of this music at your fingertips, it’s worth investing in a Stereo Bluetooth Headset that will stream music wirelessly from your phone and let you enjoy your favourite songs hands-free. The Stereo Bluetooth™ Headset HBH-DS200 can be auto-paired with the K770 and offers up to 6 hours of talktime or music listening time.
The K770 Cyber-shot™ phone is all about understated style. It’s a discreet, grown-up looking phone that slips neatly into your pocket or bag. Yet when you need it there is a digital camera on-board that can give results as good as you expect from a digital camera.
The K770 is a GSM/GPRS 900/1800/1900 and UMTS 2100 phone that will be available in Truffle Brown in selected markets from autumn 2007.

So typical: GSM 900/1800/1900 + UMTS 2100. But why there is no GSM 850??
I'm really glad that K850i will have GSM 850/900/1800/1900 + UMTS 850/1900/2100.

Wow, looks lovely. Quite a c hange in styling and new UI too.

So this is Victoria, right?
The Press Release only mentioned about the Tuffle Brown color but it is also available in purple. Cool.
Posted by PeterKay
Liking the design alot, and the buttons...
Posted by goldenface
Nice to see TrackID included as well as the illuminated camera icons from the K810i.
The glass strip on top of the battery cover would indicate illumination effects similar to the T650i too.

cool k770i what different about it and what new is it better the t650i or k850i or k800i or k810i. what the new technology is this k770i phone.
Posted by ajeetpv
i am quite sure they won't be better than k800/10's camera.
history is going to repeat itself (K750->k550)
any way it's nice solution to digital camera. btw what about video recording resolution and fps??
Posted by goldenface
Just noticied it has twice as many camera icons on the keypad as the K810i.
I would like to see the main menu icons.
Posted by DEAF
the k770i has a bit of the t650i design at the back were the speakers and light affect.
Posted by goldenface
I think this is touted as a more conventionally styled K810i, after all, the keypad wasn't to everyones taste but this phone, I don't see why it shouldn't have the same imaging prowess as the k810i.
It looks like the whole of the back comes off to change the battery/sim.

Nice, but the gold is a little silvery :-/ And the volume keys aren't for zoom anymore by the looks of the icons on the keypad.
Posted by DEAF
it similar to t650i design but with out the slider for the lens or the buttons and if you look colse you will see the at the back that it has a light effect next to the slider and it opens thesame way as a t650i .
Posted by PeterKay
Wonder what price range for this will be!
Posted by DEAF
i see no differnce in these phone in t650i except the slider for the lens and the button the k770i is a replica of t650i design.
Posted by shaliron
Design looks rather cutesy - especially the purple one. Otherwise, it's a nice compact design although I prefer the T650.
Only thing is, that the keys make it look quite wide but that makes the screen look quite small in proportion to the phone.
I guess this'll push down the prices of the K810.
Posted by ajeetpv
A resonable price would be in the range of $360-380

Good to see they've shaved even more off the cyber-shot range

I think the Camera Interface will have a lot more in common with the K810i. I guess we will have to wait to see the pictures it takes but I'm glad more Cyber-shot phones are being launched.
That'll be five altogether by the end of the year.
@Nanu
Yeah, this is the thinnest Cyber, 2mm thicker than the T650 but 3 less than the K810i.

It's interesting to note that it doesn't have calling keys like the K850 or W910.

It's intersting to note that like the T650 it is built on the older platform.

A cybershot targeted at ladies IMO.

@mustafabay
I guess it's a result of the phones being in development for quite a long time. Eventually those calling keys will be come standard I suppose. Maybe this is the last batch of 'classic' Sony Ericsson key layout.

Thin is what i like

This phone isn't like the T650i, as many anticipated a similar look. But I'm glad they have released another Cybershot, just sad to see it's not using Java 8. Sony Ericsson's phones are starting to look like the Japanese ones now... very interesting...
Posted by goldenface
I would have liked to have seen the XENON flash return.
@Shaliron
I think the classic layout looks a lot neater than the call / end layout and I'm still not convinced that the new layout will be widespread.
I expect the phones with call/end buttons to only appear on American phones or the quadband / edge variants.
Posted by masseur
its very much same-ol same-ol though isn't it? I mean same everything inside a different housing.
not too impressed to be honest.
Posted by shaliron
@masseur
It seems like it doesn't it. 2007 marks the year when technology when stagnant. No more megapixel races (well at least not as rapid as before), screen resolution hitting max for the moment, and it seems like all the manufacturers are just making the phones thinner, which is what this is.
Maybe next year, we'll start to see the effects of the iPhone, when usability is the thing that's 'in', not specifications.
@goldenface
I'd beg to differ, as SE has shown with its new platform guidelines, a note to developers about their new keypad layout, which includes calling keys. Add to the fact that it's too confusing having two different keypad layouts within one manufacturer.

This phone is so much the t650 with a cyber-shot branding. Every thing apart from the appearance is the t650. not impressed. its like
k750-w800-with minute design changes(walkman)
t650-k770(Cyber-shot)

guess it gives customers a wider option even though the models are similar...

why they didnt choose black?
Posted by jcwhite_uk
Do we need another 3.2MP cybershot candybar? Is there any difference to the K800i/K810i?

this is what they write:
Place it in your palm, feel the soft, curved edges. And how every detail, including the active lens cover, is integrated.
Posted by DEAF
this phone is t650i but rapt with cyber shot and a different button. sony ericsson must do some thing else like a 10.0 mega pixel cyber shot with 16 million color not 3.2 mega pixel .

patience deaf, patience

It looks nice, but please SE.. Gimme black or silver one, not brown and purple

Posted by goldenface
I'm glad there is more choice, not eveyone likes the K810i especially the keypad and this also doesn't have xenon flash so it sould be pitched a bit lower and cheaper than the K810i.
I don't know what people were expecting - if another 5.0MP was announced people would have still said 'another clone'.
Does every new phone have to have a jump in megapixels? If so, either SE would either only release one Cyber-shot a year or we'd be 20MP+ in just a couple more years.

Posted by DEAF
man sony know finished from 2 mega pixel phone it should star with a new brand or java script.know its 3.2 megapixel and 5 whats next.
Posted by rockygali
nice to see all u guys are online!

but the thing about it is that, why a photo LED? if its 3.2mp...
why 1.9in screen if its 3.2mp.....
hhmmmm. will this be any better than k810? the answer is obvious...
this launches are those that make SE sit and relax on their chairs and stetch out their arms... and who knows what other boring things that they do with these kind of releases... i want to be exited honestly... but cant..
NEXT PUHLEEEASE!!!!!

SE recently made one of their biggest announcement. After that anythin they announce will look blant and boring. give it some time.....let those models hit the market. let SE find out the missing features etc and then maybe next year we will see the next big thing!
Posted by rockygali
yep.. theyre probably inching their way there... but i say
PUT THE PEDAL TO THE METAL! and lets get it on!
Posted by DEAF
ok with 3.2 mega pixel but led light and 1.9 this phone is no were close to perfect
