I bought d500 for the wife i bluetoothed some mp3's and vids...From my 6230 they played brilliantly but reluctantly she swapped it for a e810 because the d500 was so difficult to text with because of the ridges that run down either side such a shame it's a stunnin piece of kit

@SE Rules

i never actually owned it, i used it for a couple of days. it was my brother in laws and he wanted it unlocked. so while i was doing that for him i had a little play and really liked it.

Because the platform sends bogus messages while charging, that is why!!!..But why this change of heart?..We sense a charger connected, oops, we will not shut down after all!!!..*********************** UI BASIC, HOLD YOUR HORSES

a person who bought a new phone from another brand, doesn't notice the many cons at first, it takes some time.
the person is used to working with an SE phone, he's used to having the best and most inovated phone there is, buying another brand is more like taking a step back while you are blinded by the sunlight.

@bart. lol

man you are absolutely conditioned to SE or you are a very loyal customer. i respect you and my argument would be that you should look at the positive points of another phone. But i am increasingly coming around to the fact that compared to SE phones there are no positive points. i want to support the D500 but i just cant, it features just arent impressive enough to warrent a change in brand.

i am confused - maybe ive had too much to drink tonight lol

well its X-mas so you've got a good excuse to drink.

to be honest i like samsung phones aswell, i was very tempted by the E700. a friend let me use his one for a few days. i was really borred with it, except from the design and the flash OLED screen theres nothing special about that phone. the new E720 looks nice aswell, but its boring.
i can only hope that SE would make such a nice phone.

Let me get this straight... you want SE to make a nice boring phone??
Wouldn´t it be easier to buy the Samsung in the first place then, because IMO they are nice for two hours, then you have explored what there is to explore in them *and found out that there is bugger all you can change/tweak/configure yourself*?

no no, i want SE to make phones like they do, with some new design touches, samsung is good at designing so why not use a few of those designs in SE phones.

ahh - feeling lucid now.

yeh SE maybe should go after a new design. i think they have gone a bit astray with making three similarly looking K series phones. why three? why even bring out the K500 when the K300 is gonna be just as good. Seems a little odd to me. maybe in 2005 we will see a new series i reckon a Q - series.

i think that the new series is going to be Cxxx
S900 will see on cebit

the K300 isn't a good idea. the K500 is already out and at a good price.
the K300 just has another design and smaller screen (and made by Arima so it could be unstable).
the only reason to bring out a K300 is to get more marketshare, to have a phone with cam for 100euro during the summer sales.

I have always liked Samsung, so I might be a little biased, and I haven't actually seen a K700, but I have the D500, and I love it. Very nice camera, nice and small. Great MP3 player (although I'm still trying to find out how to get a playlist to play continuously). I've used irda without any problems???? Bluetooth is great, too.

IMO, you can't go wrong with the D500. Anyone need info on the D500?

The D500 is a beauty. It could have been an Ericsson. Impressive phone. It is the only non-SE that I would really want and it makes me question my loyalty to SE severely (if I had the budget, would I really not buy this phone which is without a doubt outstanding in design and function because it is not an SE? How sad would that be?).

(For the OP choosing a phone: do not let yourself be guided by vague so called problems or rough categorisations such as 'bad UI' or 'has better reception than' or 'IRda doesn't work' or 'is not stable' etcetera; usually these are only assumptions and have little to do with a true comparison or testing and only serve the private purpose of cognitive dissonance reduction.)

After more reading, the D500 has some strong points: powerful battery, 92 MB memory, 1.3MP cam, mini-usb and the interface looks ok - although I must admit I still prefer the look of SE.
