I've had my phone since christmas it was fine until two weeks ago. Now i have the following problems.

  • Constant corrupt text messages
  • Mutiple duplicate messages upon recieving a non-corrupt message
  • At least once a day my screen will suddenly go white even when not in use and then the phone will vibrate and then the screen goes corrupt, then the phone has to search for the network again.

I have rang O2 Customer Support around 10 times and each time they say they can only swap the phone on a "like for like" basis, Which in my opinion is just not good enough. I paid £179 extra for this phone on top of the O2 Max Contract which i pay around £50 a month for and £4.99 for their insurance. I am really not happy with the situation and i dont know what to do.

must admit guys and i dont want to seem a bragger but i have got a sim free s700i...originally from o2 with an o2 online payasugo sim in and its been running 2 weeks with no problems. no repeated txts or corrupt ones at that, my only problems are that when im playing music the camera shutters seem to rattle and the paint seems to come off a bit too easily. bar that i absolutely love this phone!!

Well, I cant tell you who but I can tell you that a contact as SonyEricsson told me thats its a known bug that they are working on and it will be included in the next maintainance release. He couldnt tell me when it was expected though.

i have an s700i, bought the last week. i sent it on SE cause of corrupted sms and strange ringtone. they upgraded firmware to r3k004......today i receive a call and the display goes black...the phone restarted itself!!!
i'm from italy with a tim operator branded s700

after having read all these posts i think it's an s700i bug, not depending from the operator. bye

I've had a S700 on O2 for about 2 months and no real problems, not even the text probs (touch wood!)

Only problem I have had is using a 128meg card (original Sony too). Made it very unstable - locked up, had to remove & reinsert the card after turning it on before it would recognise the card.

Gone back to the 32 meg one that came with it. Going better at the moment.

To find the firmware version of any Sony Ericsson phone, press the following key combination when you are in the main menu:

    > * < < * < *

where '<' is joystick left and '>' is joystick right. Ignore every response from the phone util you have pressed all keys.

My S700i firmware versions is: R3K004
