s700i problems |

So i have now exchanged my faulty s700i and all was well for the first few days but now im getting the same problems as i did on my previous handset, which are -
- phone asking me to insert memory stick when i start the cam up even though the memory stick is inserted (ive put my old memory stick from my p900 in it and that seems to have fixed that!)
- had a couple of corrupt sms messages today
- recieved the same text from my girlfriend about 8 times withing 30 minutes. Does anyone know if this is just a problem with o2?
And lastly do caller ID pictures need to be stored on the phone memory? Because mine are on the memory stick but after a while they stop appearing when ever i recieve a text or call from one of my contacts and i need to go and apply the picture to their name again?
the firmware on my last s700i was R3f something and the firmware on my new one is R3B032.
Has anyone else experienced any of these problems?
Oh and throw in the odd random restart too!!

i have had a few of the same problems. i also am on my 2nd s700i and on o2. my phone would randomly not access memory card, so instead of plying my mp3 as ringtone, it played a default tune, corrupt messages! i hate them! also receive billons of the same text message v annoying! but thankfully the s700 does not hardly do this anymore, i didnt try do anything to fix it either and my firmwire is same as yours. o2 and sony ericsson have been having a few problems lately, recently there have been many problems with k700 phones being returned all with similar faults. i dont know who the fault lies with, but surely it shouldnt be too difficult to fix. |

I have been having the same problems. I have an S700, SIM free, generic firmware. I get corrupt txt mesages, and get upwards of 25 repeat txt messges from different people.
I also get the random access of the MS, as i have an MP3 as ther ring tone, and it sometimes decides to play a ringtone stored in the phone instead, but when you check the MP3 is the selected ringtone.
I tried to get the firmware updated, and I got the same as was already on the phone.
VERY annoying

SIM free and no problems here. The repeating messages are a network fault. I've had them and I'm on o2 as well |

i'd say the repeat sms's are due to the network....i've had a few repeat msgs, even on my nokia.let's face it,o2 isn't the most reliable network in service thesedays.

Phew!
Just bought an S700 on Voda but seems like it's the 02 network causing the problem.
Only 1 day old, mind... |

thanks guys, i thought that the text message thing might be something to do with the network. What about the s700i not recognising that the memory stick is inserted? is that a common fault with these phones?
I certainly hope not, when i pay £450 for a phone i kinda expect it to work properly!

Well I have just come off the phone with the SonyEricsson Support line. The latest UK non branded software is R3B032 rrgCXC125935_EU_1_T, and there is NO planned update due in December.
They checked the schedule for updates, and said nothing is planned for December, but they are working on adding the S700 to the online update service, which should be January 2005.
The software that the phones shipped with has not been updates in the UK.

My non branded software is R3B032 prgCXC 125947_CHINA_T, is this any different to the european software (th ephone was purchased from a uk company)
Will this cause me trouble if i do an online update when the service is available? |

ok guys. I think im just going to persevere with the phone at the moment and the memory stick thing and hope that a future firmware update sorts it out.
Cheers

I had an S700i one month ago; it works fine without any problems except:
1- it is receiving corrupted messages all the time.
2- it's not the phone problem but yesterday I received the same message 10 times.
3- it's slow, really slow. Oh and it's noisy when it vibrate because when the phone is closed the two sides not tightly touching each other.

I would not say that my S700 is slow. The two halves of my phone also close together quite tightly. It sounds as if yours is not screwed together properly. I would get it looked at.

The problems with receiving text messages again...and again...AND AGAIN is getting quite annoying. And the corrupt ones too!!! Must waste the battery life a bit too.
I emailed O2 about it and they said there is a problem with the s700i and the O2 network that the engineers are working to fix. (belive that when I see it!!!!)
I seem to have found another fault with the phone as well. SOMETIMES when I'm logging in to check my emails (on the phone), the screen goes blank, the phone vibrates for about 1/4 sec, and it reboots. Then it's ok again. Very strange...anyone else experienced this?????
