I have just searched on this one and found numerous posts relating to what looks like this problem related to SMS.

My problem however is this:

I have a contact who has a landline and mobile entry in the phonebook of the K700 (not the SIM) and yet when they call me the incoming call shows as their mobile number NOT their name as saved in the phonebook.

I have checked that the numbers are indeed the same.

I recall noticing this before on a completely different handset - a Nokia I think.

Could it be the carrier or a bug or what - has anyone seen this specifically?

BTW the firmware is R2V001 and I am with Vodafone.

This happened to me too once, and here's how I solved it. Delete the contact completely (both from your SIM-card and the addressbook of the K700i). Then add the contact again and you should be fine.

Happened to me too; follow the above procedure and reassign the picture. That should solve your problem.

I had a problem in which one contact's name did not show up. His name was the last in the list. I deleted the contact and made a new one with same number and name and this time it worked properly
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence of your attempt !!

This happened today too with one particular contact and then with my own entry - when voicemail calls me it usually shows my name but now I only get my mobile number.

Surprising since this is the latest firmware and yet there seems to be some evidence of these things happening.

I wonder if it has something to do with a status of the entry that could be viewed somehow with floAT or something...

The delete and recreate entry seems to work - I did it today for my own entry. There must be a flag or condition of phonebook entries that governs this.

I had a problem where the address book displays the wrong phone number of the person, however when i call the number it dials the correct number. This problem goes away when i turn off and on my phone, but then it occurs again. No idea why this is happening...is this a common bug?

@Gabster

It's a known problem even with the latest firmware. There's a fix though! I posted it a while back (under the signature "WilliamB"). Here's the link: http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=67764#post882236

try enter the one name and a number at a time and save, go back to phone book and enter another and save. You can save one at a time, Saving or entering more at a time will mess up your phonebook.

hi,

Usually phone numbers are stored in:

i) SIM card memory
ii) Phone memory

If you erase the contact details from SIM card memory, other applications like "sms inbox" will not show the name of the smsed number.

Similary the call list will also not display the name of the called/received number.

So, one way to remove this issue is to select the "Auto save on SIM" option in phone book.

[ select phone book, options>> Advanced options>> Auto save on SIM ]

Regards,

agsuriya
