K700 phonebook problem |

When i go through my phonebook list it occurs 5 times that i come across the same number with two people under eachother where the second person has the same number displayed as the person above that person and i have to go to "more" and "view & edit" to see what the real number is of that person. Almost all my contacts are mobile contacts only one home contact maybe that's causing it, also tried another simcard but had the same problem.
I find this very annoying don't know if it's a firmware bug, but can't think of anything else causing this. Is it just me that has this bug or do more people experience this problem? I've upgraded to R2L001 two weeks ago.
PS. I hope they improve the silent option in the next update so that the phone is completely silent no sound when you play videos, games, ringtones, no sound when you use the camera, etc.

This is a known problem that many people have. Do a search and you'll find plenty on the subject (no current solution though).

U should turn on the silent mode for no tones, sounds and alerts. Create a profile, turn it on at More or push button c for 2 sec.

@bobafett
I know how to turn on silent mode i'm just saying that they should make that mode completely silent which it is not now.

I recently had to change my username since I can't log on with my old one (banned due to earlier flame war), therefore I have lost all my bookmarks... sorry! Try to search on "k700i phonebook", but as I said, there's currently no fix for it anyway.
I'm sure masseur can jump in and provide you with some links if the search wont score anything (I remember the search function even failed him earlier, so no wonder if you're having problems with that).

Now I remember... there is a fix (well, sort of)! When you enter the phonenumbers in the phonebook and you're entering more than one number for the same person, only add one number and hit save. Then make sure you leave the phonebook. After that you can go into your phonebook again and add another number for that same person, save and leave the phonebook. Continue as much as you need and as with as many people as you have more than one number for.
Then the numbers will display correctly. It's when entering more than one number for the same person at once that messes the whole phonebook up! I remember now that this is how I fixed it for my own K700i!
This means you will have to rebuild your phonebook from scratch, but it's worth it! When you have finnished the phonebook it will be fine, but don't forget that the next time you're entering a new person with more than one number, you will have to enter one number at a time and save between each number!
Good luck!

Also remember that even if you have no persons with more than one phonenumber attached, the phonebook can get messed up if you manually add more than one person at a time without leaving the phonebook between entering new persons. The solution is the same as I mentioned above - save each added person and leave the phonebook. Then go back to the phonebook and add another person. Continue until done! It's a hard work but sure fixed my problem! |

Thx WilliamB! That worked i only have one person with more then one number, but like you said even if you have no persons with more then one number attached it can be messed up like my phonebook was. I just edited each wrongly displayed number and removed and added the last digit and saved and went out of the phonebook and went to the next person which had a wrongly displayed number and so on. They all display the right number now
But it sure is a bug which can go on to the SE list of things to fix in their next firmware update for the K700. |

hi,
Usually phone numbers are stored in:
i) SIM card memory
ii) Phone memory
One way to remove this phone book issue is to select the "Auto save on SIM" option in phone book.
[ select phone book, options>> Advanced options>> Auto save on SIM ]
