We should just work out a time and date and phone o2 to complain.

Agree with you there. Just tried to update to the new fw, got the your operator dont support this... blah blah blah.

All 4 UK phone operators have blocked the use of the update service now so don't get on O2's back too much. They have done this to stop people complaining about corrupt firmware as a result of the update service and IMO they are right to do so as right now the update service is still buggering up peoples phones. |

It has been said on a few forum posts around here. I think maybe even someone has a quite from an SE rep somewhere!
It does make sense though eh? I'd like to update my Orange K700i but if it is gonna break some function then I'd rather live with the few bugs that it has and get it done at a service centre or through the CPW. |

Well I think and the operators should give us the option to do it yourselves, should stick a disclaimer on there saying “this may damage your phone if not done correctly, we advise you take your phone to a service centre, use at your own risk, voda, o2, tmobile and orange will not be held responsible, blah blah blah blah blah…etc

The networks dont want to be akward, its not in there interest but you have to see it from the point of view. The phone is working so why break it?
Ok yes the firmware isnt upto date and yes your firmware may be buggy but at least you can make and receive calls.
The networks are not stopping you using the update via svs centers just the online update.
Also this is still extremely new to SE (K700i update) so i would hopefully think that shortly that the update service should soon start to work correctly but again you only have to read peoples comments on hear regarding do the latest update to see new problems. So for me not doing the update is better the doing the update.
I would rather take my phone in and get a svc center to update, this is free and norm only takes a few hours. People that dont live near a center can post there phone in to have it repaired. |

I have basically been told by a SE support guy that the update service still has problems with firmware corruption thus upgrading to R2AE on SEUS is blocked by the 4 major operators. There is a version of R2AE for all networks but they are not on SEUS, the network operators would prefer it if you go to them or a proper service centre to have that done.
You cannot blame them for doing this. Apparently one of the biggest causes of returns of the K700i has been due to people using the SEUS and having a problem (according to a T-Mobile rep I spoke to).
In short, using SEUS is like playing russian roulette with your phone! Don't do it! |

SE seem to have lots and lots of problems with all types of software!!!
SEUS, Firmware etc etc.
Perhaps they should think about hiring some new programmers  |

wrong, nobody, because everybody has had to read, and agree to the clearly marked and easy to read disclaimer first which would be on every page.
I dont believe all networks have blocked it at all, according to Orange they have not blocked it but theres a problem with SE website or something hehe. |

By the time SEUS is working without corruption and the major networks allow people to use the service it will be more than likely time to upgrade contract phones anyway.
unfortunately with SonyE its good phone concept & design with shoddy firmware and a shoddy (yet could be quite good) update service.
Think phones will eventually go to OTA update so you can update it direct from the network as per
