Read this from Sony Ericsson this morning, i can't believe it :
Dear ,
Thank you for contacting the Sony Ericsson Call Centre,
With regards to your enquiry, I'm afraid that O2 have indeed banned their users from using our online update service, there is a firmware upgrade for the K700i. If you would like to acquire this upgrade you have to take your phone to one of our service centres. Our main one is:
Hays Techology (Banbury)
Unit 2a,
Appletree Road,
Chipping Warden
Banbury
OX17 1LL
Oxfordshire

I have e-mailed o2 to have a go at them for this - i threatened to cancel my contract (brand new you see), lets see what they say. I will update by using the recovery mode method with my friends unbranded one if neccessary but i'd rather do it the proper way. |

Has anyone tried updating the firmware on an O2 branded phone today?
Will go home at lunch time and grab my DSS-25 and give it another shot this afternoon |

Nope still doesn't work. I get the same messages as the above screenshots, but I think I had them before too. I've rang O2 and they've said they're going to ring me back once they have an answer. |

I can confirm... that it's total bullshit. O2 need to get their act together, I'm still waiting for that phone call. If it wasn't National Rate I'd ring them again. |

Damn, there was me getting my hopes up.
My first battery charge has lasted ages now... about 5 days... which is good. Can always be better tho, and the new features on the phone with the firmware are very welcome.
When I rang O2, they said take it to an O2 store and they will send it off to be flashed for you, and give you a replacement handset to use in the meantime.
Just a heads up for you
