Hello all, I don’t know if this tip is against the rules or something but since it was quite helpful and helped my phone to be updated successfully to a new firmware i thought I would share it.
First of all, my Mobile phone is a K700 and Branded from 02. Unfortunately you cannot perform a normal update using the a K700 update service since there are some problems with either o2 or SE.
Basically I have used an unbranded K700 to fool the K700 update service and allow me to flash my 02 branded K700 using a newer firmware.
1.I have followed the procedure normally to update an unbranded k700 untill it was sucessfully done. Note that i found out that havign the charger connected to the DSS-20/DSS-25 stand causes the k700 to repeatedly restart itself so it is recommended to unplug the charger from the stand.
2. Now run the emergency procedure using the unbranded k700 until asks you to place it on the cradle and initialize the device.
3. Once that is done and the update button is enabled remove the unbranded k700 and place the o2 branded K700 in the DSS-20/DSS-25 stand (make sure the k700 is switched off)
4. Click the update button and sit back and relax until its 100% done. If for some reason it get stuck somewhere do the same procedure again starting from step 2.
Notes: This procedure will only help you update an o2 branded k700 which is not available at the moment. It will not remove ANY o2 branding. I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY IF YOU DAMAGE YOUR PHONE

Well the branding stays as it was. At fist when my update was stuck on 69% when i turned on my phone the o2 icon was missing a dot was there and the button worked fine but once i did the upgrade again it finished 100% and all worked fine.
You might not need an unbranded k700 to do it, if you try another k700 which will work on the update service it will possibly work. |

Hi! Has anyone tried and safely updated their O2 Branded K700i using this method?
I don't want to risk my phone... also will it have any side effects on the unbranded phone that you will use?
Thank You for the reply!! |
