The P900 was not intended as rival for the 6600 - they are at different price points because one is designed for business users, and one is a basic Smartphone, principally for the consumer market. If you want a genuine vs Nokia price comparison, wait for the 9300 & 9500, which , unless you think Wi-Fi is a worthwhile addition to a phone at present, will be more expensive for a very similar feature-set. We know by now, that it is Nokia who saturate the market with every conceivable variation on the same phone (7650/3650/6600/7610 & 7210/6610/6610i/7250/6230/6820) with only minor upgrades for the very purpose of maximising it's market of share of customers it can rip-off. You could argue that are doing a similar thing with the Pxx0 series, but at least they're not all marketed at the same time, and they are each as advanced as the technology allows at the time.

Basically, I just think anyone who says are ripping customers off whilst Nokia are the consumer-friendly budget option has got it a bit wrong

i think u hv no idea what talking about. 7610 is a variation of 7650? 6230 variation of 7210? come on. based on your criteria maybe you should also add this : T610/T630/T230/K700/S700/K500 or P900/P800/P910/V800/Z1010/Z1020

Please don't turn this into a Nokia vs SE thread.

@whizkidd

The price and feature comparison of the 6600 and the P900 here in the UK is very difficult as the price varies so much. For example I paid £100 for my P900 in Nov 03 - when the 6600 was not even available! And then when the 6600 was introduced the price difference (around Jan 04 from what I remember) between the two was not that great. Now the 6600 is usually free and the price of the P900 is still around £100/£150. Also if you look the volumes of sales I think the Nokia have probably sold 2/3 times the numbers of 6600 as SE have sold P900s and therefore the 6600 can be sold cheaper (the sales volume, to some extant, reflects Nokia's great distribution channels and this also makes hte P900 more exclusive)

At least we should only compare prices when the feature set is same. If a touch screen costs something, if a bigger TFT costs something... this cost will add up to something. Then it eventually boils down to whether you need that pricey feature or not.

@Ayush

er...different people like different things and have different requirements. I like web, eBooks, MP3 and managing spreadsheets and therefore I would not use a small screen device without touch screen - and I am happy to pay to meet my requirements. In the UK £100 is not that much for a PDA☎ a good PDA will cost £150/£170! I am glad different companies make different types of devices. Even Nokia recognise the requirements for large touch screen devices - see the information on the Nokia 7700.

The nokia Series 90 (aka 7700) has been delayed. Insiders say the 7700 platform is a real killer device as it has a very high resolution screen.

I wouldn't swap my P800 for three 6600's. The touchscreen and UIQ make all the difference in the world - if you don't understand why, you simply don't need a Px00.

@draak1

6600 has full-screen video playback. (3gpp, avi and about any format using smartmovie)

6600 can record unlimited video.

6600 has full-theme support.

6600 can support up to 1Gb of memory, more than the 128Mb P900 can. MMC cost much less than MSDuo.

6600 runs JBenchmark faster than P900 eventhough it has a slower processor

6600 has as full a PDA support as P900 - email, PIMs etc.

6600 has full support for full HTML browser (opera/netfront)

6600 can play NGAGE games and many more games support than P900.

6600 has more 3rd party software support than P900.

6600 is smaller, lighter, less fragile and cheaper than P900.

6600 captures better picture than P900.

@jah

6600 sold 2 million units in 5 months. P900 cannot even reach 0.3million in a year.

6600 outsold P900 by a factor of at least 10 times (not 2/3)
