Sometimes an image really does say word than a thousand words even if it's a smilie. However the Smilies are there to enhance written text, not replace it altogether

Smilies used in moderation are fine - I generally use no more than two or three, and sometimes none!

If it bothers you too much on wap, turn off images, which is what I do. It will keep your GPRS bill down too!

btw, I have a similar problem to you with continuously having to log in on my P800 - I'll log in, look at my PMs, then go to look at my bookmarked topics - and it asks me to log in again, even though I only did it two minutes ago! It will often ask me again and again when posting a reply, checking PMs again, etc. Any help there would be appreciated by me as well!

I wouldn't have thought that this was a huge problem, although I can see why people would find it annoying on WAP. The most anoying aspect of smileys for myself is when they are used as a reply in and of themselves.

Smily is disabled in my preferences, but still viewable on wap wml. Seems to be effective only on web and/or html light on wap.

I agree/disagree...

Smilies are somewhat of a necessity because a lot of emotion is lost over the internet...If someone makes a joke with no smilies, it may give the wrong impression...smilies make you understand its JUST a joke

On the other hand, I understand the purpose of this thread without also naming any names lol...
