Tried your suggestions and compared to my encodings using X4live

I agree - this way gives optimum quality.

Somewhat more work than simply using X4live with its easy interface - but quality is definately better.

Yep, using XviD to create mobile phone video clip is just pain. But the quality is unmatched and it's free.

mpegabel is a lot easier and also give quite good quality, far better than PVAuthor and Quicktime (note: Quicktime is totally suck)

I totally agree - for a quick conversion of something that doesnt need the ultimate quality but still look reasonably good - X4 live beats pvauthor and quicktime and even sorensen, but best quality is definately using the xvid method (thanks for the info on that method) - Im working on an "automation" process trying out different tools and ways - and writing some batchfiles to make the process easier and quicker.

Good to know that you do some reseach on this.

I tried many method with different tools, before I settle down with that method.

My goal is to create video clip based on K700 multimedia capability but compatible with 3gpp standard and can be play on most mp4 player.

Some mp4 muxing tools (mp4UI, mp4creater60) create incompatible clip with some player / hardware. and profile setting in XviD is important in some player. Quicktime show warning message if you use ASP profile (even if you did not use any of advanced encoding tools of ASP).

.3gp clip create with my method can be played on:
SE K700
Nokia 7610 (Real Player on Symbian)
Quicktime 6.5 for PC
pvPlayer
mpegable player
Philips Platform4 Player for Pocket PC
It's also compatible with 3ivx directshow filter.

The good thing is K700 can play most clips I've tested. A lot better than 7610. (I also tried it on Nokia 6230 does not support video clip with AAC audio, very bad)

Thanks @StoneRoses. The quality is better. The playback is smoother. The size is smaller.

I made a search in Google, and I found out this...

http://spawnweb.dk/themes/themes.htm

...a detailed manual, how to convert clips into .mp4 for your K700

hope it helps
