re SMS delivery reports - the software at the SMSC (Sema) supports delivery reports but Telstra haven't turned it on yet. Apparently the billing platform won't support it ie they can't bill for the return SMS. Vodafone AU supports it - they bill 5c for the return report - so I'm told......Optus I don't know.

thanks to everyone who responded to my request. it looks like i cant turn the delivery report on. no worries. sorry for delay in looking into this post. far too busy enjoying my trip north from Sydney via Newcastle, Cofs Harbour and current location of Byron Bay. Australia is lovely this time of the year. i can use the wap ok but its a bit expensive. internet cafes in Byron Bay are dirt cheap, first 30min free. don't want to spend all day surfing in a cafe, will try my hand surfing on the sea. Thanks again.

don't worry, i will. just done a tandem sky dive from 14000feet (2.6 miles/4.2km) which was great. tomorrow i will take some lessons here in Byron Bay and do some real surfing. its only costing me $1 AUD ( 0.38 Pounds STG) for an hour internet surfing compared to $6 in other places. I love this country, pitty its sooooooooooo BIG, 3 weeks is not enough. will have to post my pics from the P800 soon.

baz,

I think it's more than just a billing issue.

With our SMSC connection it is possible to receive delivery reports when sending to Telstra CDMA handsets, but other handsets (read: GSM) seem to have problems with replying to the sent SMS. This is due to the TON setting which is forced at the SMSC.

No luck until Telstra sort it out I'm afraid.
