The New Zealand Herald has a story about Vodafone choosing Nokia as their 3G partner, and at the end of the article they mention various handsets that are being tested by Vodafone. To quote - "Vodafone was looking at the Samsung Z100, Sony Ericsson Viola, LG U8150 and the Sanyo SUP7000 as key handsets."

While we know of the Samsung Z100, LG U8150, and Sanyo SUP700, this is the first we've ever heard of the Sony Ericsson Viola. Could this be the long awaited successor to the Sony Ericsson Z1010, which was announced over a year ago?

this is never the successor of the z1010, the z1010 isn't even on the market on most of the 3g supporting countries
i guess that it is a candybar phone - something like a T610, only with video call support and a better cam

if its for new zeeland it could be the same phone.
cause they had the T610NZ in stead of the T610 we had.

but than again, it would be Z1010NZ
i personnaly think that this is just a mistake, cause if voda would really test a new sony ericsson there would be some spy pics around

Maybe its a mispelling of voda? Doubt SE will begain work on the Z1010 suscessor before they've finished polishing off the Z1010.

I meant mispell Voda. It could just be a prototype test device from SE rather than a new phone.

that could also be true. but if they misspeld it they've made a little buzz about it, cause you can see it everywhere

Viola is the SE internal name for Z1010 during the development phase. There is a swedish article about this at mobil.se

BTW other SE and Ericsson phones had female "code names"

...i have 1 idea: Every SE model to be have NAME, NO nomber...
for example: ...like a all products of company SWATCH

what do you think about this... it's cool

The example - Nokia nombers is comical! Great confusion!!!

For those who can read Swedish, SE confirms that Viola was the internal working name for Z1010 while it was developed i.e. NO new phone.
