*doesn't sound like a bad little unit. seems to have (almost) everything*
Sharp recently submitted an application for approval by the FCC for the GX-30, its latest GSM handset. Not only does it feature an upgrade to the GX-20's amazing 65K color screen – this time it's 262K colors – but it also features an SD slot for storing photos, videos, and music files. Did I mention it has Bluetooth? And a 1 megapixel camera? It looks like we are finally getting phones that will, in some ways, compete with the latest Japanese offerings.
The GX-30 also features 40 voice polyphonics, a 7 color light which can be used as a camera flash or torch (already seen in the GX-20), along with the ability to record short video clips. A generous 8MB of memory is included for multimedia storage and Java games. Finally, we can confirm that the GX-30 has received approval from the Bluetooth SIG for Headset and Serial Port support.
It looks like Sharp has really listened to what its users wanted – I’ve heard many a prospective GX-20 buyer complain "if only it had Bluetooth"! Sharp will be offering the GX-30 through the Vodafone network, as it has done with the GX-10 and GX-20. No official release date has been confirmed.

have to say, this is a sweet sounding mobile.
of course, now that people will be able to take 1meg photos, how are they going to send them...?
at least this phone has a screen which can show of decent photos. I don't know of a gsm phone with a screen that will come close to this |

I think the Sharp GX series phones have been quite underrated as they have had fantastic screen long before most other companies, just a shame that they seem to be limited to Vodafone live!

It sounds good. But im not about to get exited. Most new handsets will have all these features.

Does anyone know what platform are Sharp built on? Are they developed in-house or do they buy them as, for example, Siemens does? |

@judge: from what i've seen it's original manufacture, not bought or developed from some1 else.
I think it'll be one great phone and i agree with the above poster saying they have been underrated...but that`s cuz europe is not Sharp's playground...this has smtng to do with their marketing. As we all can see, they r not taking any chances of releasing the phone onto the market 'as is" but under Voda's branding.this has got to tell us something...chicken, eh? Neah, just stiff competition
