there are many complains about the quality control of Sony Ericsson phones. but as someone claim that "stop complaining", i cannot say all here. just take an example, the "sleep" problem of T600 and T66 have never been fixed completely up to this moment, for more than a year (T66). Maybe you can say your T66/T600 hasn't this problem, but I'm sorry to tell you that many T66/T600 users do really have this problem. Sony Ericsson hasn't much chances to bounce back if they still always make such errors and lack of QC. People will just be scared away from SE products.
@randomix,
hi, my T300 did have low earphone volume problem. The volume is quite far lower than my T68i. My friends' T300 have the same problem. Yet, all of our T300 are the first batch, so I don't know if the problem has been fixed. |

I can verify the hiss problem. It exists in the 2 phones I have taken out of their boxes.
My guess is that the sound is caused by the display. When it's on during a call it interferes with the speaker. The display is quite close to the speaker so this might be the thing.
I hope they will come up with a solution.
This, my friends is the reason why new phones aren't released globally. SE naturally starts in Sweden (and Iceland... we got some phones aimed for Sweden). To keep the baby diseases in one area where it's pretty easy to get them fixed. |

I haven't heard about this problem. But anyway the quality of the T66/T600 can't be blamed on SE since it's not actually SE who has made these phones. They are developed by smaller companies (For example by Microcell i Finland). And this says nothing about SE quality. |

If I'm a new buyer, how will we know we will get a phone that had been fixed?
Sony was faced in a similar problem on a digital camera I bought last year. They issued a recall to send the camera back to Sony Service Centers. What they did is attached a blue round sticker on the camera about 3mm diameter indicating the camera was fixed.
Are they going to do the same on the T610? |

I think that mobil.nu/se are more trustworthy than itavisen.no It-Avisen hardly never write their own stories and they quote wrong (meaning they make up and change stories totally, never states their soruce)

I don't really know the exact reasons. But probably to get more phones out on the market. The phones so far that are not made by SE is T66/T600 and R600. The R600 is made by a Korean company (if I remeber correctly). The same company that made the Ericsson A3618.
There are a few small details which are tell tales of the phones that are not actually made be SE. Usually they doesn't support all of the SE accessories, even though they use the same system connector. Another one is that the display background light uses LED's and not the SE "standard" blue-green homogeneous back light (used on all non-colour phones since the T28) |

Was the T39 Ericsson-made? The backlight seems somehow different, although it reeks of Ericsson quality-excellence in teh way it fades in and out.
SE should remember the attention to small details that Ericsson are famous for. |

Yes the T39 was a Ericsson made phone. It has the same homogenous backlighting and support all accessories.
AFAIK the only non-Ericsson/SE phones are T66/T600/R600/A3618. |

Erm, in fact itsnt it true that NONE of SE phones are actually made by "Ericsson Manufaturing points"???? correct me if i am wrong but a couple of years this was big news that Ericsson are no longer MANUFACTURING their phones with their own plants?
Instead third parties are Contracted out to manufature the phones following the designs created by Ericsson/SE.
This could explain why some are faulty/ and not being discovered durign testing. Usually test models are made close to Sweden, and then the bulk models contracted out to far east companies. Now although they are all built to the same spec, sometimes some components may not be of the same quality of the original test models. ALso different plants may have different statndards. The P800 is all so far made in France, and reeks of substantial quality.
Still its no excuse...

Yes, it's true that Ericsson isn't manufacturing phones anymore AFAIK, but other companies who are specialized in manufacturing do that.
But that was not what I was saying. All Ericsson/SE phones are developed in house, except T66/T600/R600/A3618. They are not developed or manufactured by SE. |
