OH MY WORD! Damian was a very important part of Nokias Imaging dep. and was such an open person, you could tweet him questions about the cameras in Nokia phones and he was always willing to respond in detail, he seemed very passionate. Nokia have lost a great asset! 
I wonder who got him? Samsung? Apple? Jolla? maybe even Htc? Shocking news anyway.

My new Lumia is two days old now by the way..
I've been quite busy though recent days couldn't post anything about.
So it's all great.. Not much new to me since I was on a Windows Phone before.. But definitely Nokia's quality is welcomed back! The phone's build and feel is in another league to everything available on the market today!
Haven't shot one single photo yet. Saving everything for tomorrow as I'm having a full day with the 920's Pureview camera.. Will report back for sure.. Stay tuned!

And don't worry, as long as Eero Salminen and Juha Ala-Karhu are on board, you will still see some pretty cool stuff from the Nokia labs.

Did you know Land Rover's were originally made here in Birmingham?? The factory closed but there is still a smaller one here.

I don't get it what is it with all that depressing tone reacting to Dinning's move!
Dinning was only the software manager of the imaging department. He was the head of the team responsible of processing algorithms. And that's it!
And he was one person. He didn't write the code himself, just the head of the team.
Now of course losing him is not good as someone like leading the best team in the industry in this area can not be replaced easily.
But this leading to Nokia becoming just another cameraphone manufacturer is nonsense!
The people who came up with the two PureView concepts are still there at Nokia. The real talent and engineers behind all this work are still there. These are the hidden soldiers. Always the people who do the hard and core work, while others reap the credits from the general public!
PureView is only getting better next year. Rest assured.
As to my own testing of the camra, the weather yesterday held me back. Will have to do it later.
I only have very few first samples..
I had one 1 sec sample which turned out blurry. OIS didn't do the job completely. Will have to test further..

Absolutely true! As far as we know maybe this will be the start of a new and more innovative side at Nokia.
I'm hoping to get my 920 in about 4 days and will test the camera in the hardest conditions know to man; Sweden in November
