Apparently in a test the Nokia and HTC battery life issue is down to NFC. If turned off the phones doesn't get hot and the battery life is improved

Well I never had problems with the battery but I also turned nfc off the day I got it. My phone still gets hot under heavy usage though but nothing that bad or noticeable and therefore not a problem. But I don't know how hot the 920s from other people get that it seems to be such a problem.

My Lumia 800 gets very warm near the top when in heavy use but only whilst charging. This to me is normal. Think of your phone as a mini pc with dual cores inside a small space and a battery,HD screen etc it's gonna get a little bit warm it's normal. Any heat has to go somewhere

I think most smartphone users be it WP, iOS, Android, Symbian, BB etc... are used to their phones heating up, its when the phone gets upto such a point that it is uncomfortable to use due to excessive heat that gets them worried, especially if it gets hot while in stand by, i remember my X10 did that a few times with some badly optimized custom ROMs.

Thought NFC could be left on like BT and WiFi without draining much battery though? Ive had it on on my S3 since i got it, must be a minor bug in the Nokias and HTCs that has NFC maybe refreshing at a high freq?

Still trying to get the handle of this Nokia 920 camera. I have read some people are turning down exposure to offset the softness. Will wait for updates to see if it improves. My note 2 for sure does take better day shots.

Taken at around 7am.

I find it a little funny that you say the Note2 takes better day shots, as its manufacturer does not even make any effort to advertise its Camera, in the N2 the camera is more of an after thought but yet still takes incredible pics.

Hopefully Nokia will sort this out as it will be embarrassing for their flagships main party piece to be out shined by others who havent paid much attention to Camera.

Great to see its selling well.

What is considered "heavy" usage ? I am yet to get my 808 warm... my iphone 5 only gets hot if I am playing games on it.

I start noticing the heat when I have the screen constantly on for an hour or so during gaming or using data for whatsapp or something similar. To me that seems pretty normal. All my phones got hot during that kind of usage. My 920 only gets hot above the camera and doesn't spread much and it's certainly not uncomfortable to hold then.

Trust me it's normal. Imagine your carrying a HD screen around it's like a mini HD tv with you it's gonna get hot or warm. Plus having 2 or 4 cores inside and a battery.

^ The current gen LED lights are still far from the xenon performance of the 808.. but I am hoping one day they can fully replace xenon, they are smaller/ligher, easier to synchronize, and they eliminate the need for a mechanical shutter..

here is a list of bugs for the 920: http://forums.wpcentral.com/n[....]w-future-lumia-920-owners.html

and more on the battery issues: http://forums.wpcentral.com/n[....]-lumia-920-battery-issues.html

See this

Have seen the battery thing they reckon it's NFC but most people have said the battery was good. As for flash,my Lumia 800 LED easily fills the whole room
