So true, battery technology has been in serious need of innovation, especially with phone screens getting bigger and phones getting thinner.

I like Samsung's designs, but i certainkty wouldnt mind some metal on my phone. In a way, Samsung reminds me of BMW, ive been driving a relatives BMW X3 3.5IS (bi-turbo, 300hp) recently, incredible car, has every feature under the sun including TV and a rear view reverse camera, and its incredibly powerful, BUT, build quality isnt the greatest, theres a lot of plastic and fake metal, its durable but you dont get the same expensive feeling as you do when you get into e.g. Range Rover or Jaguar. Its the same with Samsung, its almost as if they spend a lot more time and money focusing on performance and features, personally i dont mind, but i wouldnt complain if they put more into build and design.

Yes,the Wave & Wave II & III were all exemplary in design and solid metal build but used Bada Which was ok but think Samsung are to make no more Bada phones

Metals arent always the best solution for a mobile phone though. My N8 has a tendancy to be like a block of ice when its been left on a cold window ledge at this time of year which is quite uncomfortable when you need to make a call on your ear. Also they tend to be heavier and show damage easier if dropped. I also remember a young lad i once knew had a Samsung feature phone a few years ago - i forget which model - and after removing the battery cover for some reason i dont know why, the battery cover got bent out of shape after someone stepped on it. It never fit the phone again. Plastic would have just bended and then gone back into shape.

As for the batteries, i can stick Minecraft on for about two hours and the battery can go from fully charged to 15%. Which kind of goes against what the promo video says on the Google Play Store - build anywhere ! - yes you can as long as you're on your way home or have a charger handy at work !!

I simply couldnt wait loving multi view and the extra accessory Homescreen:

The accessory homescreen, it pops up when you plugin your headphones and also probably when you put your S3 on a dock, in the Note2 it also pops up when you pull out the S Pen

Battery life seems to have improved in this Android4.1.2 leaked update, also the phone in general is a lot faster and smoother than in both the 4.1.1 FWs i tried. I tried the UK and India 4.1.1 FWs. The UK one's batt life was a mixed bag, and the India one was good but it seemed to have a bit of a RAM problem, sometimes HS would redraw, the 4.1.2 leak seems to fix all of the things i didnt like in the 4.1.1 FWs.

If anyone else is interested in the leaked 4.1.2 FW then here you go:

Ps. the accessory HS i posted above is known as Page Buddy.

Mine does that sometimes, sometimes it a bug and sometimes its a setting in the phone / browser that comes on when viewing web pages.

Usually a restart fixes it if its a bug.

@ Tsepz_GP - You're braver than me dude, i dont bother flashing unofficial ROMs.

Its a nice feature to have split screen workspace but tbh i dont think id use it much.

Etaab, having nearly permanently bricked my X10 when i 1st began expiramenting with all kinds of wacky mods, and managing to bring it back to life in a last ditch attempt i now know my limits, plus, i always keep multiple back ups of my official ROMs in SD card, laptop and tablet just in case. Test/leaked FWs from Samsung like what im using are usually safer to flash than Custom ROMs, so i was more than happy to take this jump.

Maybe when your S3 is a little older you'll try?

Phones are getting a little too much like PCs in this way. I got sick of constantly upgrading my PCs years ago and went into PS3 gaming.

Mind you, i think my SGS3 will be future proof for the full term of its contract so thats something that'll hold fine with me.

But then again, i found out the job i went to an interview for i got a couple of days ago, so im getting a massive pay rise come the new year which will mean i will be able to buy a sim free SGS4 next year anyway. I might even buy an iPhone 5.

Congratulations! Don't bother with the iPhone 5 ... you're too used to Android and to be honest you'll just sing a sigh of disbelief in that system/iOS.

Has anyone tried porting the double-screen app running of the Note2 onto the SGSIII or any other device?

PS: I sincerely believe that the SGS line an the Note will finally converge in 2013. 4.7" vs 5.5 ... I think they'll be a harmony balance in-between with 1080p resolution and incredible battery life. We'll see.

Next year i might use my SGS3 as a project / hobby / modding phone if i decide to buy another flagship outside of my contract. At the moment the SGS3 is pretty perfect for my needs so no custom modding is needed.

I have the usual gripes about what it cannot do which Symbian could but im able to live with them.

Since updating my Galaxy S3 to 4.1.1 I have to request my emails rather than have them pushed to me, Any idea Why?
