Good stuff, I reccomend turning UAC off straight after installation as I have had too many problems with it not letting me install etc.

Well done! I updated my Vaio Z21 to ultimate yesterday too. I think Nvidia need to work on the graphics driver as the ranking went down by ,1 due to the chang to win 7 driver, apart from that it all went very easily as Sony had all the drivers and an updated bios on their vaio-link web site

@lukechirs: I've not problem at all with it. I'm on a domain and I think it doesn't affect with the UAC.

My ranking is 3.5

I'm just wondering if visual studio 2005 is compatible with this OS. I don't feel like downloading a new version. I'll try the Express Edition though.

win 7 is definitly an improvement but I'm not liking how it seems to go out of its way to keep the task bar empty, up to the point where, when I plug a device in, the autoplay dialogue doesn't show until I click the windows explorer icon, and the outlook envelope that shows there's new mail no longer appears, and all the system tray icons I previously configured in Vista and XP are assumed to not want to be seen in Win 7 unless I again reconfigure them to "show icon and notifications"

btw, anyone experienced the screen of death?

@masseur: I'm also using ultimate and I've not experienced anything you mentioned in your post. I made a clean install of it and you seem to have upgraded from previous versions OS's.

@bonovox: not heard of it before.

@all
I have never heard of it and obviously never been affected by it!
What is it, an error, BSOD?

I was sitting in my doctors surgery today and there was a screen which showed the news. And a brief flash across the screen showed WINDOWS 7 USERS SUFFER SCREEN OF DEATH. I am at a loss as to what they mean. No more details were on the screen about it

Microsoft investigates Windows 7 'screen of death'

Microsoft has confirmed that it is investigating a problem described as the "black screen of death", which affects its latest operating system.

The error means that users of Windows 7 see a totally black screen after logging on to the system.

Although a friend suffered this and it was because it wasn't activated. He's never had that again.
