Sorry but I fail to see how the screen size and color depth affects the cameras ability to take pictures/video...

I think what he meant to say is that it is great for watching your captured videos and photos.

He clearly say "shooting"

THe only thing you would miss out, on an upgrade from n82 to c905 is symbian. Besides that, everything else would keep you happy.

Hi estatophan,

I have carefully analyzed ur query, And based on it, i would like to suggest that Samsung Innov8, is a good step from N82

why u should Consider Innov8 to c905

Music

3.5 mm music jack , makes music listening ease compared to annoying fastport at the side of c905 which makes holding the phone difficult,Not to forget samsungs are best in music to , their latest phones are equipped with dsp, (dedicated sound processing chips) unlike se

Gaming
S60 OS means a bunch games, and are much better than traditional java game which are available for c905
Not to forget the amazing amount of application that s60 brings in which makes life easier like PIM, Finance, utilities etc

thereby i would like to suggest samsung innov8. which is a step up from N82 in terms of camera, and still use the applications and games of S60

I agree with this EXEPT one thing. Samsung are not the best in music.

@panonski

C905 is not a crap. Even if it's your opinion, don't make others believe that C905 is a crap because it's only your opinion. I saw your thread about the pic quality of C905 but I didn't post any comment there because it's pointless. C905 is only a cameraphone, not a DSLR camera.

Hi there Estatophan.
I made the switch from N82 black to c905 about a month ago, i hope i can be of help in your choise between two fine phones.

These are my opinions regarding:

Camera: i take lots of pictures and this is the big selling point for me. N82 is an excellent performer, but i like menues better. And the picture quality of C905 is in most cases definitly better. Though i DO miss VGA video recording.
The photobrowsing is good on both phones, they both have their strong sides and i prefer the c905 solution.

My choise is clearly the c905.

Music: About even score here. The 3,5mm jack is a big advantage for the N82, but i dont miss the stereo speakers at all. I find the c905 music menues better looking and navigation more well implemented.

Both are good, the choise depends on your preferences.

Gaming: not realy so much to say here, the N82 wins this category hands down due to its rich assortment of games and programs. Btw: if you havnt tried it yet you must download "Bikini Jump", the silliest game ive seen i a long time, hillarious. I do like the keys on top of the c905 screen, but still, no match.

My chiose is n82, easily.

So, now ive lived with the c905 instead of N82 for month.

What i like with the C905:
May seem wierd, but i realy like that i now always have an easy-to-start and strong flashlight availible. (Just open the shutter and press the video/camera toggle button. I always have the videolight option turned ON)

I love the logic behind the a200 menus, i find them extremely ergonomic and well thought out. Also speed of a200 compared to symbian S60.

The quality of the screen is superb, colors are vivid and black is black. Actually one off the best screens i have ever seen.

Design: C905 is quite a good loking phone, though it could be smaller. N82 may have a brutal charm, but its certanly not pretty. Material wise i think the c905 feels realy good. Though i have heard complaints form other users, my unit is flawless. N82 has a to "plasticy" feel for my approval.

Not very good, but still better battery perfromance than N82.

What i miss from the N82:
The more mature GPS funtionality of N82. (though my N82unit had some major problems in this department, which was the reason for nokia to give me a refund and i got myself a c905 instead.) The c905b has room for major improvements in this area, hopefully wayfinder 8 will be a step in the right direction.

The keyborad. Ive read many complaints about it, but i definetly find typing more comfortable on the small but well defined buttons of the N82. Also the spacebutton on C905 (#) in combination with its size and center of gravity (and size of my hands) makes it awkvard to use.

The openess of symbian. Highlly customisable and lots of programs.

Nokias implementing of standards regarding memory cards, data, charger & sound connectors. (SDHC, USBmicro, standard micro chargerplugg and 3,5mm audio/video out/in)

Overall advise: The N82 is a excelllent phone but the C905 has got some solutions, that in my point of view, makes it a better experience.
Although: the differences in functonality are not that huge, so if youre feeling content with your N82 there is no urgent need to make the swap.

Cheers!

^Agreed.
Go for the INNOV8. You wanted an upgrade from the N82 and that is the best candidate because of S60->S60, and pretty much everything is better on the INNOV8 except probably the support from Samsung on S60 updates. If you go for a C905, you're going to have to give up somethings whereas you don't have to on the INNOV8. Also, you're going to miss the awesome browser on S60.

Hansen> Glad to hear you liked it.

Driftmania> i8510 is a good candidate, no doubt about that.
Regarding the browsers: Dont you think Opera mini is a good alternative? It has been my favourite for quite a while now, also when i used symbian.
The only advantage i can see with the native symbian browser is better support for flash. Other than that Opera does most things faster & more intuitive than S60´s (and certanly SE´s) browser.

Based on my requirements i think it would be worth a switch to a c905( this is coming from a guy who prefers to use his k850i to his n82)

But based on yours, if you can live without the xenon flash, the innov8 is the way to go. or even just wait for some new phones to come out

Camera-yes the c905 is better in quality and useability(shortcut keys etc), but quality not by a huge margin i would say

Music-c905 interface is much more pleasant, but n82 has a 3.5mm jack and stereo speakers, the 3.5mm jack makes a world of a difference for me. i hate having to lug around a 3.5mm jack adapter.

Gaming-N82 hands down, it's got so much more power thanks to it's gpu, you've got n-gage games, some other symbian games are really amazing like "7 nights"( i think it's called, absolutely amazing), and of course still compatible with java games. C905 has the standard array of java games

Style-If that matters to you, hands down the c905 wins, it a gorgeous looking thing in comparison to the n82

To the minor points, the c905's screen should be better(based on my k850i experience), my n82 has a purple tinge to it. GPS n82- has nokia maps, and has been doing gps longer i assume it would be better. Keypad- probably the c905. UI- prefer the SE UI, n82's feels a bit spartan if th8s the word to describe it but it is very functional .

So truth be told unless style, a visually and useability-wise better UI( imo) and a better camera are important to you, I don't see any reason to even upgrade because you're losing a few features too. If you must upgrade though, then yes the innov8 is a good phone to consider.

Apart from games, the C905 is a very good upgrade. But so far no mobile phone has been that good at proper gaming. Thats why I prefer the PSP anyway to a mobile. I had a Nokia N78 and the games were fun yes but not as fun compared to an actial portable console. If you are a serious gamer then you would have a PSP or DS for games instead of a mobile phone.

Samsung INNOV8 would be a good option, but...

If you are used to the N82 xenon flash you will be greatly dissapointed.

C905 covers that in this respect. Although personally, it is not worth the price when you can get INNOV8, LG Renoir, N85/96 for similar price.

The 3.5mm jack has a a advantage yes. the only downside is that you look like a idot when you speak into the mic of the phone which you have to hold in front of you.

oh and if you dont want to look like an idot you just pull the headphone out, and use it as a normal phone right? wrong! if you do that, the second the call is over your previous sound (music or video) will blast trough the speaker.

so yes on paper it is a better solution, but in practice..... i am not sure
