not really. try checking out the K850 firmware overview ( http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=157121&start=0 ). me thinks you should search esato and other mobile phone forum sites more extensively.

oh well, if you still wanna stick it out with your "precious" k850, then by all means go for it. try bashing it on a wall, maybe the bugs might completely disappear. kidding!

btw, you should hang out with plankgatan. i'm sure the both of you will get along quite well.

@lazeeboy: well if i have the right to say so, i wouldn't go comparing him to plank imho
@buntoo: It's unfortunate that your touch buttons went funky, your post about my k850i reliability question was very reassuring, big downer nd ironic to see ures having trouble. After getting over the ergonomics and software(crashes/restarts) problems in my descision to buy one seems the hardware has some minor issues too. Very unfortunate. But best of luck to you

Yah ofcourse i'm a very happy user of K850i..
and 2 lazeeboy i always have a look at that forum K850i Firmware Overview.... I think the most complaints are from those people who actually dont know how to operate this machine or maybe they are unlucky having some faulty phone... but not in my case...

anyhow thanks all for the comments...
the keys are working just fine now and very few times they become non-responsive only for a few seconds. I havnt reflashed it still now... I will, when i get time..
@enk39 Nope dear, that was not an ironic post. U got wrong, this is neither a hardware fault nor some serious software prob.. just a temporarily little bug..may be due to some corruption in the very huge collection of installed applications. mine handset is working 100% fine.

Thanks again to all.

Hey guys. Let me start off by saying that i agree with buntoo. My k850 was the best mobile phone I have owned and i planned on keeping it for a very long time. Unlike many people on these forums, I didn't have a single problem with my k850 and i updated the firmware regularly. My last firmware update was 2 months ago. Just last week, my soft keys started to go crazy. the phone thinks the 7 and 8 keys are soft touch buttons and i cannot control it.

I am having the same problem as bunto. it starts working again, then stops like it has a mind of its own. My question is this...does anyone recommend purchasing the re-flashing utility from davinci team? could this possibly solve the problem? Please anyone, let me know if they have had experience with davinci team tools fixing such issues. thank you.

The fact that you have to hit the phone to regain function suggests this is a physical hardware problem.

I had a similar problem earlier this week. I first noticed my K850 had a problem with the touch screen buttons when the phone locked. The only way I could get it to unlock the phone was to remove the battery. I then noticed that the faulty touch was the symptom of the problem not the cause.

Pressing the number keys would lock the touch keys. Hence why I noticed the problem after pressing the # key to unlock the phone.

I CBA with sending the phone away to SE for repair.

To cut a long story I replaced the Key Pad PCB (these can be found on ebay for as little as a £5) problem fixed!!!
