Hi i'm using this phone since Jan 2008 and i havn't had any prob with it except getting BROD two times but afer updating to the R1FA035 it did'nt BROD any more. Anyhow that was some software issue and i didn't experience any prob relating to hardware. But from yesterday i'm getting very strange prob with the three soft-touch sensitive keys. They sometimes suddenly stop responding for a while and then i've to hit the phone with a slap of my hand in order to make the keys working again. After hitting the phone the touch keys behave 100% normal as there was no prob with them. but then again they stop responding sometimes. I'm having this prob more than five or six times from yesterday.
Anyone have the same issue?
What should i do so that it will keep working?
Can i do anything at home or will i have to send it to the dealer for repairing?

thanx

buntoo

this problem has been noted before somewhere on this forum. you would be best sending the phone to the dealer so it can be repaired under the warranty.

yes i know it has been posted somewhere else on the forum but i'm unable to find. AFAIK that was some other issue like touch keys continuously pressing etc...
I'm facing this prob again and again randomly... *annoying*... and also i've noticed that sometimes if i leave the phone for a while after getting no response from the touch keys, they start to respond again...
What the hell is wrong...... Is it also some software issue? [addsig]

Hey Buntoo, I also have a early K850 model (December), and also had 2 times BROD + this touch-screen error.

After a few days searching on the net it was time for me to send it back to repair, so im guessing the only way to fix it is to bring it back to a service centre.

You may want to try and reflash your phone with SEUS. When my phone came back from repair, all they did was a reflash (at least thats what i saw)..

I don't think there's much you can do apart from re-flash the firmware. I've had this problem only a couple of times (and once it think it was because my hands were wet, then the soft keys went very sporadic!). But the other, the keys still worked, but they 'moved' down the phone, so the three softkeys were around the 7 8 9 area of the phone

It might be a problem concerning both hardware and software, so if the phone is still within warranty, send it back for repair.

many thanks to Killfr3nzy & sandy4464

The phone is still under warranty but i dont want to send it for a repair coz it takes at least a month.... Though i've other handsets but im used to of this SEph.

And the strange thing is that the Touch keys are working 100% fine from yesterday... So what does it mean? --> It may not be a hardware prob..?
and i havn't reflashed it... i'm thinking of a reflash if the keys again create some prob.

@ Killfr3nzy are you sure they didn't open ur phone? [addsig]

it could very well be a software problem really, seeing as the K850 hasn't had the best firmware in the world. I guess you could also try a master reset to see if that has any effect. Sorry i can't be much more help on the issue.

thanks sandy4464 for the reply...

My bad.. The keys are again sometimes non-responsive.
I'm thinking of a reflash via SEUS but not sure whether it will sort it out

my advice... sell the k850 as is and buy another phone. it'll save you from future headaches.

if you research carefully in this site, you'll find a lot of forumers here that are quite dissatisfied with this phone(BROD, touchkey problems, etc.). heck, even 's given up on it, they've discontinued its production.

TBH i'd agree with lazeeboy really, but seeing as its in warranty, i'd send it to be repaired. If it still doesn't work after that, if you've got the handset from a network provider, you should be able to have it swapped.

why should i sell when i'm totally satisfied with this handset?
In short this set is one of the best SE mobile i ever had... and frankly speaking there is no handset in the market with zero bugs.

that touch keys temporarily prob seems likely to be a software issue and i hope it'll be solved with a reflash as in the case of Killfr3nzy. [addsig]

hmmm... if you're "totally satisfied" with the K850, why start this thread at all?

true... no phone has zero bugs. but the K850's definitely one of buggiest phones to date.
