If i remember correctly, thinks like java, flash, mms, copy+paste, a2dp, were already well discussed last year, in threads similar to this one...and the answer of the zealots was the same: "that is all software, Apple (aka, GOD) will bring them quickly on firmware updates, they are not like SE and others"

Guess what, ONE YEAR has passed, and those features are still absent.

You can say what you want, but MMS + A2DP + copy & paste + java, are things i cannot live without (neither a physical keypad, btw - and yes i tried the jesus phone)

Not to mention, there is no TRUE multitasking (who are they kidding) for 3rd party apps

in the hacked world java and mms are already there...

and the multitasking in the iphone works quite well..

you can listen to music, surf, sms, get email, download in the background, have fring running etc..etc.. and everything is just as you left it.. even ALL the videos remember where you left it off.. the only difference if you don't need a task manager to toggle back and forth..

so how is that not multitasking????

You said fring + all the system apps run at the same time...

I am speaking of having fring (just for skype), slick), shozu (uploading photos), profimail (downloading email), escarpod (downloading podcasts), opera, opera mini and core player all open at the same time, and connected to the internet...

And yes, i can copy and past text from and to all of those apps...

i don't get what you're saying? you need 3rd party apps to do the same things the iphone can with system apps?

mail downloads/does push in background
the native photo app does uploads to facebook or whatever like shozu
you can download stuff like music for example in the background with isisk
the music will continue to play while you're doing all these things

the implementation is different but it still works... minus copy and paste of course lol...

What he's saying is that it's a bit 1990 again when a program needs foreground priority to upload a pic, or send a mail.

I thought this 3G iphone is the one i've been waiting for but it is another disappointment for me, I really want the videocall for this phone but i really don't know why they can't offer it. That's the reason i will stick with X1 for the features..

lol. Then why buy a phone that's this expensive?

edit:btw - is the java port for OSX/arm past the "barely working" condition yet? If so, that's good news for once.

editer: "iPhone games to cost 17-18 Euros in Europe"
"I can't say much about it, but it's very exciting," says Cavero. "We've got a big UK licence, and we're using all the capabilities of the iPhone."

Omzgs!

Oh, my mistake. It's the 3rd party stuff that needs to be open? And the inbuilt store and apps work fine in the background..?

it depends on how the app is built.. i'm not sure..i'm not a techie in that regard..

for example... fring works in the background.. you get a vib/ring when you get a new message..it always stays logged on via wifi or edge

the mms app pushes whenever you have a new mms..regardless of what you are doing...

and iSisk while you are downloading a song.. you can exit and do as you please..

these apps even tell you that you have to press to EXIT button to close app or it will work in the background.

some things use a "freeze" state and some can't be hidden at all..

i'm not sure of the exact details it's just how it works... supposedly though the "official SDK" doesn't allow for background apps.. but we won't know till we see what is released...

I have the P1 and iPhone. I must admit I enjoy using the iPhone so much more than my P1. I haven't used my P1 for over 2 months now, it sits there collecting dust. The P1 is so painfully slow at everything after using the iPhone.

The people hating on the iPhone are the one's that never tried it. I used to think the same thing until I 'ACTUALLY' used one.

I too am looking forward to get my hands on the iPhone 3G, jailbroken and unlocked of course!
