Who shoots home movies?
You shoot videos with your phone, dude.
You know, there are some moments in life which you'd like to have in motion. Frankly, I use my K810's video recording feature (although crappy) quite a lot.
And what do you do with the videos, this is a serious question, I can honestly say that I have never used the video record on any phone I have ever owned, just intrigued as to what people use it for.
By the way by home movies I basically meant, filming days out with your family, Christmas, birthdays, holidays etc

my son uses it ALOT on his N95 8gb for recording him and his mates doing parcours. (I cringe when I watch them back 'coz I'm sure he's gonna do himself some harm!)
I guess this discussion is more about the effect that the iphone 3g will have on other devices and for me, it won't stop me getting the X1 or touch pro. I've always had windows mobile devices as they do my business stuff very well.
I doubt there will be many people waiting for X1 etc who will be changing their mind. Indeed many will be like me and get both

I've had my P1 for 8 months now and the new iPhone is not even tempting me. I am still waiting for the P1 real successor, if not the X series will be for me , bo definitely not the crappy thingy from Apple.

I think some people will change their opinion on somethings when the AppStore is launched, anyone seen the screenshots of Super Monkey Ball, looks awesome. And also we don't fully know what features Firmware 2.0 will bring either, for all we know the bluetooth finctionality may have changed, there might be copy and paste, a video recording app etc etc, as the iPhone runs OS X the possibilities are endless.
Each to their own is what I say. |

Nope. Most of the peoplewud get iphone just for the 'i' in it. N then sell it off as soon as the excitement is over.
I dont think iphone would actually satisfy most....ofcourse the ui s great. But that gets old when u have it. |

I'm still not bored of it either. You're right masseur most other manufacturers are copying this interface for their touch screen devices.

Regarding shooting video on the phone, it is no different to stills. If you have a good video mode it makes sense. Optical zoom for phones is available now. And the new LG range records in native divx decent resolution, and up to 120fps. Video cameras will go the same way as the stills; high end for the few that care about top quality, and integrated phone cameras for the masses. |

The end of the line for SE? I don't think so. And it certainly wouldn't be because of another expensive, low tech phone from Apple.
It amazes me how a lot of people I know are so hyped about getting a 3G handset. My first 3G handset was my W900 and that was years ago.
This new iPhone will not be the end of the line for SE, that's for sure. There are too many people who actually want more than a device for texting and calling, and let's face it, the iPhone really isn't useful for much more than that.

Is that line a joke, or have you never used an iPhone? People are entitled to their opinions but what you said is just plain false. |

Yes, I have used one (http://www.ciao.co.uk/Apple_iPhone__Review_5743470), and your right it does do more than texting and calling, it was a figure of speech. My point is that it lacks aspects that a lot of people want in a phone - very very basic aspects.
Things such as video calling are only just being introduced by Apple.
Yes, people are entitled to their opinion. And this is my opinion. I'm simply trying to say that there is no way the iPhone is going to pose a threat to the P or X series. |

For those unplanned moments it's better to have a phone that can record videos than a phone that can't. For the planned ones, like your kids' b-day party then you probably use a real camcorder.
