nokia can allowe itself to push down the prices, cos they sell so many and next to it, they pop up ( doesnt matter if smart fone or just a simple s40 ) pretty often, so a fone is at nokia almost outdated when its launched

well maybe thats why launches at these prices, coz they dont sell as many as nokia. nokia obviously has cheaper production costs compared to

though. maybe you misunderstood me boba. im simply saying, its not only who over price at launch!

yeah, i got your point, but if a co. cant offer good sales, then they should maybe drop prices a bit or think over the strategy imo

of coure those prices are just guessing ( in the first post ) but se should offer a really good and reasonable price for xperia

i wont expect anything under $1000aud...........

most high end WM phones launch at this figure or higher.

take the imate jasjam. that launched for over 1k here, and stayed like that for quite a while, even on ebay.

but the x1 wont be the same as jasjam, give it a few weeks after release and price will drop a bit.....

well all i can say that there will be only few who have guts to try out xperia at such a massive price after p990 debacle.Nothing can be said abt xperia if the phone is not perfect it could turn into p990 story and price may stumble. And would be biggest loose of customers and Se if they dont get everything right with xperia unlike SE tradition with p990,p1,k850,w910 etc..
K700- W800- [W810]- W200-[ P990]=[Current].

what was wrong with the p1

well its their first WM phone......................... will see how it pans out. i wont be getting the phone, ( i dont think) but i think it will have a few bugs on release any way..........

think the non-price related stuff can be discussed in the x1 thread

I can't understand why retailers would be offering any prices at all at this time. Surely, it would take a remarkable leap of faith for any consumer to order a phone that isn;t being released for at least 6 months and which still has so much uncertainty surrounding it?

@500

I would think those prices quoted are US Dollars so whats the exchange rate to the US Dollar? As for prices dropping look at the W960 and N95 8gb the N95 8GB launched first and has held it's price. Retail prices for the W960 has dropped £60-£80 and on the forum what was an over £450 devcie can be got for between £210-£230. Now while this may be good for us the consumer it can't be for SE's revenues or profits.

i know its not good for , nor is it good for any company. well, for nokia, it might not be so bad, as i said, their production costs are lower!

im just refering to launch prices, all companies launch high. then drop.....

thats just market competition though.......... whether its between sellers, or manufacturers.......
