"Jenn over at Pocketables is a woman after my heart; she’s got her eye firmly on the XPERIA X1 release, and isn’t letting the lack of official pricing from Sony Ericsson stop her from looking around for the best deal. It turns out that plenty of online retailers aren’t waiting for Sony Ericsson to reveal the X1’s price either: figures vary from almost $1,500 at the top end down to $699 at the bottom, and remember these are made-up discounts from the made-up full retail prices!

Here are the figures Jenn found:

MobileCityOnline - $999 ($1,199 retail)
CellHUT - $699 ($899 retail)
Wireless Galaxy - $1,428 ($1,500 retail)
Smart Mobile Gadgets - $979.94
A quick Froogle pulls up a few more prices - for instance PhoneCycle, who are placing their bets high up, at $1,428.99 - but until Sony Ericsson unveil their final release date and pricing (which will at least be before the end of the year, we now know) expect all of these stores accepting pre-orders to issue caveats suggesting you might owe them more money."

Hi all

Well as interesting as that is if it are expecting to charge a premium for it being SE and it's not competitive with HTC's or others with similiar products prices they will end up restricting them selves to just to the SE faithfull and that just won't shift enough units. For thier first WM device to stand a chance it will needs to be competively priced or it just won't sell in any real quantity IMO as after all SE have no track record with WM so why would a WM user swap to SE if it's more expensive simply they won't.

these prices are speculative - not based on anything SE have released (because they haven't released anything about pricing)

As to it not being any good, why do you say that? It's atleast as good on paper as other high end WM smartphones, which usually retail for anything up to $1400 (Australian). So most of the above pricing isn't unrealistic at all

imo he ment, and i agree on some way, next to the uiq and wm os in the same device, it wont offer nothing really new ( maybe the design yet )

next to it, se fones are really overpriced at launch, then the price fall rapidly in the following 1 month.

i dont know why people say phones have high launch prices, which ones, p990, w910? hardly all of them.
just wait 1 week and look at the price drop dramatically.

you can say that about all phones then....... sellers launch high, as they may be the first to sell it, then as more sellers start to stock it, competition grows, there for, lower prices. look at the w890, its already dropped a good $40-$50usd....

(im talking about ebay, online stores etc, not networks, i barely know any one who buys sim free from a network store)

As far as putting altogether i can see its going to be priced around $900.
600$ less than my core 2 duo notebook.

EDIT

@500 se has more aggressive & over priced product.

For ex N82 with all it features costs 100$ less than w960.
And n95 8gb costs just $ 50 over w960
Nokia 6500 slide and 5610 are priced less than w910 and have more features.

yes, a few phones are priced too high.

my point is its not only who have high launch prices. its just how the market is. example, n95 8gb released over $1000aud online, not long adter, it was about $900aud, now its about $750ish.......
