This is a fallacy regarding the megapixel quality of a phone. P990 has a special Sony Sensor that was similar to K750 albeit a slightly larger one(just look at the focal length and it says 5.4mm whilst in k750 it says 4.8mm) . . . [snip!]
This is true if you assume that both P990i and K750i have then same focal width. Has anyone tested this? I am actually assuming that the P990i has an inferior sensor as it relies on noise reduction to improve picture quality (or maybe this is simply due to P990i having a faster processor and can "afford" to perform NR without slowing down shooting).

DONT DO IT! My Mum got the U700 last month and both her and i just cant stand it, it looks beautiful and has a nice camera THATS IT otherwise its a pain in the a** to use and you will get SOOO bored with it, My Mum only uses hers when going out since its fashionable otherwise she uses her Nokia N80 and SE W880 for daily use.
Keep your P990i,its by far better, rather go buy a 8GB mem card for your P990 and have a great smartphone with a lot of storage and functionality.

OK, I have both a P990i and a U700, so I can let you know what I feel about them.
Obviously both are very different devices, the P990 being a full on smartphone, and the U700 being a camera / fashion phone. So for start off, the comparison maybe 'strange'
If you are a power user, then the P990 wins hands down, you can install loads of applications, you have wifi, blackberry support etc etc, but on the downside, it's big, heavy, eats battery and software can be, shall we say, temprimental.
The U700 on the other hand, is certainly smaller (much!), lighter, better battery life, and personally speaking is much better looking. On the downside, it lack wifi, and the wider application support. The audio in the samsung is great in my opinion, gaining useful input from their work with Bang and Oulfsen projects, with the ICEpower amplification etc. You also have HPDSA support.
As for costs, they are basically even, expansis.com are listing the P990 at 175 Uk and the U700 for 180 UK today.
I have loads of SE handset, and Samsung, and I think both have great plus points, you really can't go wrong to be honest, just decide what needs you have. |

Agree with floatlite, had a U700 for a couple of days now, whilst it's no smartphone it has a lot of positive qualities, certainly way better than a W880i to perform a similar job.

Totally depends IF you need the Wifi, use the TS, or prefer to have a large bulge in your pants , if not, the U700 is the better bet.

@mweb - Well, honestly . . . I really LIKE how the P990i looks like (built), as the way I sees the U700, it's more of a - fone also, NOT to forget the THINNESS of the fone, which I think might GIVE-IN (crack/breaks in TWO) anytime when placed at the trouser's-behine-pockets I have NOT had any Samsungs for the looongest time now, I think it was only the V200 in 2003 Yup, I like the way the SOUND works, quite LOUD compared with the others . . .
