Dogmann: My statement stays, there is nothing in your post that proved otherwise and I have never denied that the new firmware has better battery life. Just said that it wasnt caused by "Demand paging".
Anyway, the change that increases the battery life is likely in Symbian v9.3+ and that means it will come to SE phones as well when they upgrade from Symbian v9.2 that is used now.
I agree with you that SE definately needs to improve their high end UIQ phones. They are currently lagging behind Nokia and it started when they got problems with P990 and then tried to release 2 other UIQ phones simultaneous (M600 and W950). I guess it was tougher than what they believed! P1i and W960 is a clear step in the right direction but an upgrade to Symbian 9.3 or later would definately improve their application start up performance due to "Demand paging". |

dogmann has a point there,nokia is really improving alot and i mean alot towards their softwares and hardware. Even i myself hate nokia but when nokia n95 8gb was release,its features and capabilities are superb but only lacks touchscreen(this is only my opinion) because some SE fans love touchscreen maybe that's holding them off with the w960. If nokia n95 8 gb has a touchscreen i'll be living SE for good.. back to the topic, Can a 802.11b can get a signal from a 802.11g router?? Is it really possible that a B router is much stronger than G?I think that is impossible because they used different chips. |

Nokia basically has SE beaten long time ago when it successfully put a full OS (S60) into a non-touchscreen mainstream phone whilst SE concentrated on putting eye-candy into the A100/200 platform.

A b can see the signal from g but it will not be able to connect. So it will not be usable. |

Exellent example! Very smooth, sharp and good colors. I'd like to see a W960 video to compare it to SIGHUP's video. If it's anything like my P1i, I'm not expecting much at all. |

@SE forever
Sorry to have to correct you but no Nokia's are using Symbian 9.3 they are using Symbian 9.2 but have some of the features expected to be found in Symbian 9.3 and 9.5 which have been implemented and back portered to Symbian 9.2. That being Demand paging and now Flash Lite 3.0 support in the browser. The improved battery life is indeed a result of Demand Paging as they way it works is kinder on battery consumption as if you read the article i linked to you would see through demand paging it reduces the processor cycles required for some tasks which has the effect of using less power.
Also as far as i am aware SE's UIQ3 devices are still using Symbian 9.1 and this along with the Nexperia chip they are still using is why they are unable to support HSDPA.

Cute cat haha I have one too.
As far as this topic goes I cant see how it has managed to generate this many pages of posts as is a non brainer.
Video:
N95 8gb wipes the floor with w960 hands down, absolutley no question about that.
WIFI:
N95 again wipes the floor due to support for b and g. When I had my n93i and n95 surfing used to be fast on WIFI and I used to be able to use messenger from my bedroom. With my P1 I cant even detect the signal from my bedroom and the router is in the same place.

i don't believe that P1 can't detect a WLAN signal in the same room!
I have both n95 and P1 and i can't find the big differences in the WLAN signals |
