I can't believe that so many people have never had a proper cream tea. It's as English as a bowler hat, signing on the dole and starting a fight at pub chucking out time.
@danny
I'm piscatarian (eat fish but not meat) which is even better. Both meat-eaters and veggies hate us!

Good lord, no! If you do that you put too much jam on it! The scone should be savored for it's own delectable goodness, you really shouldn't smother it in preserve. Just a little blob on top of the clotted cream is all that's needed!

@danny.... when did you fight your way to the top of the food chain lmao!!!!
anyway, i never asked you to understand im not asking why you eat processed mashed up bits of 'animal'..... in actual fact most 'meat' eaters dont actually each the kind of meat your food chain is made up of.... but hey, this aint scones is it?!?! heehe!
ever tried marmite on scones?!?! (i jsut dribbled)...... looks liek leeboys buying scones on the way home!
bTW danny, i aint by any means having a dig just gotta tell it how it is
@cyco...
if i could eat fish i would... it just smells soo bad..... mat tho, i dont think i would ever even wanna eat it again.... its harder to tamper with fish, especially freshly caught fish plus, fish is seriously good for you
youre not hated cyco....

Yers. Even though I don't partake in meat myself I can see the attraction of a good quality chop or steak. But how the hell anyone can eat Iceland home-brand chicken nuggets and such like is beyond me; there's more meat in a chickpea curry!
Wouldn't scones and marmite be a little dry?

lol, it would, but then you add cheese... hmmmmmmmmmmmm!
yeah, the chop, or steak i too can understand, but even red meat to be fair aint 'apprently' all that good for you as your body takes a ges to digest it..... anyway.... each to their own... eat what ever makes you happy aint it

If its presentation you want, then its....
1) Scone cut in half
2) Both halves lightly buttered
3) On each half scone - half clotted cream and half strawberry jam
4) Add a mint leaf to each scone (sticks better to the cream)
5) Icing sugar - In a sieve over the scones (gives it a christmassy look too lol)
This is how I used to serve them in the hotel I used to work for.

Had an idea, why don't we all buy scones, make them in our own individual way, then photograph them and post the pic here?? We could ask masseur to judge lol

It has to be the cream then the jam for me, and it has to be clotted cream.
Has anyone ever heard them called scons?
Might just be up here in Oldham.

Pah! It's only pronounced 'scons' by people who are pretending to be posh. It's 'scones', sounds like 'stones'
