hi...

I'm thinking of buying SE- walkman phone but I can't make up my mind which one to buy after reading the reviews. My budget is max 165$. I'm thinking of either buying W200i or W700i. The camera result of W700i looks good on this flickr website.

BTW, I want to use my cellfone for listening music/audiobooks, taking snaps apart from the regular usage of sms & calling.

I would be thankful if someone can suggest me which one should I buy or if there is any other set than the one I mentioned, please do tell me. I'm using Nokia 1100 at the moment

Regards

well, following are the prices of SE cellfones here

W810i : Rs. 11,950 (200$)
W700i (BT) : Rs. 10,900 (182$)
W200i : Rs. 6,550 (110$)

btw, I can't find any site where I can compare W810i & W700i. I tried it on SE site but W700i is just not in the list. Can anyone point me to a site please?

EDIT:

BTW, checked on CNET and it says:

W700i
The bad:
* Joystick navigation may irk those with big thumbs
* No autofocus on camera
* Minimal difference to the W800

W810i
The bad:
* Grainy low-light photos
* Software suite doesn't support Mac
* Keypad will be too small for some

What does this grainy low-light photo means?

In DK the w800 is cheaper than w700, so if its thesame situation in country, go for the w800 or w810

@sinn
you can compare them at gsmarena! there are no weird isues with w810's cam at low lighting condns. It manages to perform quite average and of course there's autofocus.
Mine is A4A driver and i am getting gr8 pics.

well am thinking of buying 810i as its price is a little over 701. BTW, could someone with 810i please answer the following:

1-Can I can organize my music in W810, like can I create folders, because I want to listen to music as well as audio-books.

2-I've seen the simulation of the phone and it had the option of playing videos as well. Can I only play the videos that I record with the cellfone, or is it possible to play other videos as well? If so, how is the quality of the video. I hope better than those chinese mp4-players?

2-Do the headphones provided with the set sound good?

3- Does the lens gets damaged easily? If so, is there any way to protect the lens because there is no lens-cover in this set.

4-If there is no such thing as a lens protector, how much the lens cost, incase it gets damaged.

5-For how long the battery will last if music or videos are constantly seen?

Thanks for your time

  1. Can I can organize my music in W810, like can I create folders, because I want to listen to music as well as audio-books.

    Yes, you can create folders, both from within the phone itself, as well as using your computer. The W810 will be able to navigate through the folders.

  2. I've seen the simulation of the phone and it had the option of playing videos as well. Can I only play the videos that I record with the cellfone, or is it possible to play other videos as well? If so, how is the quality of the video. I hope better than those chinese mp4-players?

    It is possible to encode your own videos from your VCDs, DVDs, etc and watch them on your W810. I use M3, an easy to use freeware program that helps you encode your videos for your phone. Unfortunately, there have not been any news from the maker of the program. If you need any information on the program, check out THIS THREAD. Download M3 HERE. As for the quality of video playback, it depends on your encoding. The screen is pretty good, but I don't usually watch videos on my W810, so I can't give you a definite answer.

  3. Do the headphones provided with the set sound good?

    They sound pretty alright to me, but I'm not too fussy when it comes to sound quality on my mobile phone as I have a Sony Network Walkman and rarely use my phone for music. But yes, the bundled earphones are decent ones, better than most earphones that are bundled with phones I think.

  4. Does the lens gets damaged easily? If so, is there any way to protect the lens because there is no lens-cover in this set.

    Yes, the lens gets scratched quite easily, I know because mine got scratched within 2 months even though I take great care of my phones. AND, I keep my phone in a cloth pouch by itself in my pocket, so I really don't know how it could get scratched.

  5. If there is no such thing as a lens protector, how much the lens cost, in case it gets damaged.

    I just saw one in THIS THREAD. Check out @Bezzz's lens cover, I personally think it's a great idea, and it's the first time I saw such a cover.

  6. For how long the battery will last if music or videos are constantly seen?

    I can't really give you an answer on this because I don't usually watch videos or listen to music on my w810. However, I do run java games and browse Esato on it quite often using GPRS, I sms quite a lot and make the occasional phone call and it gives me about 2-3 days of heavy usage, so the battery life is pretty decent, at least to me.

All in all, I've been very happy using my W810 for the past 2 months. I have not encountered any problems so far. Coming from a K750, I would say the W810 was a worthy upgrade and I do not regretting my choice one bit. I highly recommend this phone, especially if you have not used a Sony Ericsson phone before. It'll be a real eye-opener for you, and a very nice phone to start off your relationship with with.
