hmm.... i wonder....
how you categorized the phone into high end or mid end?
for me W880i is included in high end, because it was launch at about $350.
and W660i isnt worse than W800i, you are wrong ...... it has 3G, walkman Player 2.0 and A2DP, if you just compare from the camera.... man, this is W series, not cyber-shoot series.
also W580... it cannot compare to W810i, it has shake control, walkman players 2.0, in front speaker, pedometer, A2DP and its slider phone...
well..... thats only my opinion |

2. W880i-Flop-No Camera,Autofocus,No Flash-(Worst than 2005 Phones like K750i,w800i)
It wasnt and isnt a flop. It still sells quite well. Also it does have a camera (at least the one I had did). The only thing it was worse at then the K750i and W800i was the camera because it didnt have autofocus. The phone is half the thickness of the K750i but added a better walkman player, better screen and 3G. I cant see how you can say it was worse than a 2005 phone.
Just because SE have released more lower end phones doesnt mean they are rubbish. They may not have the specs that the higher end phones have but a lot of people can not afford the higher end phones.
I do agree that SE do seem to have dropped the ball as far as high end phones go. The P1i is a similar price to the N95 but cant compete on specifications. They need a high end phone to match the N95.
Even if SE announce a phone with 7mp, HSDPA, XVGA screen, GPS, 30GB and 500hr battery life people will complain about it somehow.

My sentiments exactly. phones have traditionally always been pricier than other brands and they seem to get away with it too.
As for the W880i being a flop, well that is still selling bucketloads according to sales info in the UK

What's this about V640i being a 'low end phone'? Since when did a low end phone include 2.0 MP camera, A2DP and HSDPA 3G?
V640i is a stylish upgrade of the simply superb and excellent value V630i (I own a V630i, I should know!) The Havana Gold colour is awesome, the rounded edges echo the highly successful V600 (K600) of 2004 which is quite appropriate IMO. Find a model from another manufacturer that offers such quality, style and value at the price!

...but then nokia went and released the N95 and for the first time in a very long wile i couldnt help but want a nokia. SE have made a 5 megapixel phone but the spec still doesnt match that of the N95 now im in 2 minds wether 2 stop using the trusty SE phones and move to nokias.
any1 else have any opinions on this issue?
I agree. N95 has me tempted and E65 too since Vodafone NZ reduced the later to NZ$649.00 (from NZ$999.00) NZ's cheapest Wifi phone!
needs to add Wifi to V640i/K770i/W910/K850i mainstream style phones and pronto! N95 and iPhone have raised customers expectations of what a multimedia phone is, and multimedia is 's territory!

w580i
The camera lacks autodocus and flash, which a phone released in same price in 2005 had, sliding mechanism had little flaws and is shaky
and then comes fatures like walkman player 2 (Theres nothing speical in it)and all other things which doesnt bring any improvement.
w660i
Camera lacks autofocus and LED (Why it is being degraded ???)and the price remains as high
Mediocre display resolution
Heavily over priced
Sony Ericsson W660 brings no innovations; it's the good old applications and functions
W880I
Sony Ericsson W880 has no dedicated macro mode, everything closer than say 80 cm from the lens will be out of focus.
How come a high end radio may not have a fm radio even which phones as low as $50 manage to fit, and more important thing is
its a "walkman with no radio"
No AF and no flash(why is it being downgraded?)
How can u call a phone which even doesnt a featurea basic fm radio,a good camera a high end phone
W880i was highly over priced when released throughout the world"it may be high end for only because of price)
Wht r the things that justify the hefty price tag,how do u claim it a high end phone"no way"

The main reason for the lack of auto focus and no radio was because of the size. It still had a better spec than any other phone of its size when released. It was a bit overpriced when released though.

samsung bought x820 phone with just slimeness of 6.9mm, it does have 2 mp camera
shoot videos with sound in a resolution of 352 x 288 pixels
Document viewer adn tv out function
IT was released in 2006
samsung u600
240x320 pixels
3.2mp camera
fm radio
flash(10.9mm)
How did samsung manage to squeeze in 2 and 3 mp camera and radio in slim phone. Is it not Possible to have good camera or is it not possible to have radio in slim phones?why does se doesnt give this option even for heavily priced like w880i .I dont understand they dont want to give or they "dont Know to engineer"

Samsung managed it in the X820 by removing a memory card slot, halfing the battery life, 3G, reducing the screen resolution and size and making it wider and taller than the W880i. The X820 doesnt have auto-focus either (which you were clomplaining that the W880i didnt have either).
Its all compromises on what can be fit into the size.
Samsung also didnt have faith in their slim phones as snapping the phone in half is covered in the warrenty apparently, something my local shop told has been used on several occasion. I am yet to here of a W880i being snapped in half.

wht abt the U600
it features 3.2mp camera, autocus, and radio,it does have memory card slot
and moreover u should understand that x820 was released in 2006,and also that 3g is not very useful function becasue many countires dont have 3g spectrum and it does have a tv out function.which i doubt even high end phones have |

But for me 3G is a must as I use it everyday to access work systems and EDGE and GPRS are to slow. It all depends on people use of the phones.
As far as the U600 goes, its thicker than the W880i but has the added features of the TV out, better camera and radio but still does not have 3G.

fyi.. hardly call the t650i unique or innovative. it's a rehashed t610... with a crazy sar level lol..
se's highend products were disappointing this year... but i'm sure they're making buckets of cash still... kinda disgusting... let's hope they give us "loyal" fans something more to actually desire...
