You can plug in the Headset extension. Do not plug in the headpone. Start the FM Radio then switch to Speaker. That's it, you will hear the radio. It works on my W810 & W300.

it works on my w810 also cheers dude

Mobile phones which have aerials for viewing tv should be able to play radio without a headset...atleast thats what my common sense tells me.

@gola:

Not likely. TV uses higher frequency signals unless I'm mistaken... therefore it needs a smaller antenna.

FM needs an antenna at least 75 cm long for optimal reception. Its possible to use FM on a phone as long as there is some sort of antenna inside but the quality will be miserable. (Its been done with the motoming)

This has been one of the most confusing posts for me. Some say that adding the patch allows the phones to receive FM signals without the headset.However You won't hear anything. Others say add the patch and you will won't need the headset to and you can hear the radio on speaker phone.

Could someone please state clearly what the purpose of the patch is and how well it works?

Thanks guys

IF you use the Patch, it won't come up saying Insert Headphones when you go to your radio...

HOWEVER, It is pointless as the headphones act as an antenna, so you'll just hear static noise...

you NEED them plugged in to get a signal, Patch = Pointless

Ok guys. Got satisfied answer. Conclusion is that there is no way to play radio without headphone inserted. PATCH IS USELESS. Thanks for all of you who helped me. Really thanks for your great support.

I really don't see why you'd want to. And even if you did get it to work, the reception would prob be really bad. [addsig]

I stumbled across this post and found it to be somewhat interesting. Have you guys ever tried this? Plug in the headset, turn on the FM radio, and then turn on the speaker. Tune into a channel, and then unplug the headset. For a few seconds, you can still listen to the channel. This pretty much proves that the phone doesn't require the headset for FM at all. What I'm thinking is that it's not because the phone requires a headset to work, but rather because of the patch is sketchy and faulty. If there is a good programmer, I'm sure he or she can tweak it correctly.

If you guys would like to respond, feel free to shoot me one at nothinrandom@gmail.com

That more or less sums up why there's no point trying to get the radio function in your phone to work without the headset. There's really no reason to try to get it to work as the reception will just be bad.
