Welcome to Esato!

You can only use Yahoo email with pop / smtp accounts if you pay for the premium email service called 'Yahoo! mail plus'. If you have this service, then the settings are in your web based control panel.

@rahul7024 - Welcome to esato

Try this

Yahoo Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - pop.mail.yahoo.com (port 110)
Yahoo Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) - smtp.mail.yahoo.com (port 25)

Best of luck, but I think you still might have problems unless you're subscribed to Yahoo! Plus

Please prove me wrong and if you do, post your exact settings here

@Cycovision

I have been using Yahoo mail on all my devices, i do not have Yahoo mail plus just a standard Yahoo account with pop3 activated.

The first thing you need to do is activate pop3 mail on your Yahoo account page. Here are my settings for YAHOO mail on my N95 and E61.

User name details before the @yahoo.co.uk
Password obvious really
Incoming Mail Server pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk
Outgoing Mail Server smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk

If you have a Nokia you can get these settings sent straight to your device via this link

https://nokiags.wdsglobal.com/advanced?siteLanguageId=118

Or if you have a SE phone use this link

http://www.sonyericsson.com/s[....]&ver=4000&template=ps3&zone=ps

and i just checked it has both Yahoo.co.uk and Yahoo Mail Plus so both should work.

Marc

Hi Marc,

Where on the Yahoo page can the POP3 be activated ? I've looked everywhere in the YH mail options, the only thing i can find is that YH can retrieve your POP3 email from other accounts, but not let you download it from Yahoo...

thanks for yr help !

Hi benitorios

When you open your Yahoo E-Mail page top right corner you will see options click that and the select Mail Options,
then on the far left from the list choose Pop & Forwarding,
then choose Set up or edit forwarding
then select Web and POP Access and next to that is POP settings that will take you to a page with all the correct setting to enter into your device.

Also i have just realised that you can even have all your YAHOO MAIL forwarded to another e-mail address should you so wish. So instead of having to collect your E-Mail from a couple of accounts you can cut down the number by sending your YAHOO Mail to another account and collect it from there. Personally i like to keep these accounts separate and use them for different things but at least you have the choice.

Hope the above is of help.

Marc

Hi Marc,

Thanks for your help. I'm actually using Yahoo Mail Beta, and when i select POP & Forwarding, this is all i get in the main frame :

Upgrade to Mail Plus so you can:
download your Yahoo! Mail in an email client, such as Outlook
forward your Yahoo! Mail to a different address

So i have no other choice in this page than to upgrade to Mail Plus. Maybe i should switch back to original Yahoo mail and see if this option is available. I'll try that later and post back. By the way i'm using Yahoo US (.com), not .co.uk.

Cheers

Hi benitorios

Well in that case there isn't much i can suggest other than not to bother trying Beta software as it is rarely worth it IMO. Made that mistake with Windows Live which gave a less than great user experience for ages although now it it is very good. I hope what you have shown us is not a sign of things to come and is only due to it being in Beta stage otherwise i will definitely not be happy.

Marc

Hi Marc,

actually i was proposed by Yahoo back a year or so ago to upgrade to Yahoo Beta, which is free, and i had agreed. It's just a revamped interface compared to the regular Yahoo Mail. Basically it allows you to drag-drop emails, have a preview pane, which i find quite handy and fast compared to the traditional open-and-read method, and you can have several thumbnails open at the same time (eg. one for your inbox, one with a message you're busy composing, one with an open received email,etc.). All in all, i find it more efficient than the old Yahoo Mail interface, only drawback is is takes longer to load at login.

However it seems the Beta has dropped that possibility of allowing POP3 forwarding. So i'll switch back to original Yahoo and try that , and i can always go back to Yahoo Beta later on.

What is your current incoming port and what network do you use?

Hi all,

well i just tried temporarily using original Yahoo email. I go to mail options, POP & Forwarding, but that section only allows me to select some other accounts which i want to have forwarded to my Yahoo address. It does not let me forward my Yahoo email to another address or mobile device, and of course there are no POP3 settings in sight.

So i guess it's either country-specific (i'm using the yahoo.com) or else you have to pay for the Mail PLus upgrade and then you receive the proper POP3 settings. In the latter case, i believe even with the POP3 settings, they won't let you download your mail until you've upgraded to Mail Plus and paid the 20 bucks.
