Just took my m600 to be fixed to the retailer i bought it from. They said that 99% sony ericsson will not accept the damage and i would have to pay for the phone to be repaired!

A 7 month old phone; its screen just stopped working; and they expect ME to pay for it to be fixed?

In 10 days i will know exactly. If i will need to pay for it , i think i will immediately switch to another brand. Bye bye SE...

HTC touch already seems to be a good candidate....

Well, i have made i great complaint to SE Cyprus and UK. I took my SE to be fixed , and they just returned it back saying they cannot fix the screen and it is not in the warranty...

The wierd thing is that before i send the phone, i opened it and removed a bit the keypad ; in order for only the 1 , 2 and 3 keys to be working. I did this in order to see if the would open the phone to see if they would really opened the phone. Then i got the phone back, and the keypad keys working were: 1, 2 and 3 only again! I opened the phone, moved a bit the keypad and all the keys are working now!

I am thinking moving away from SE now. I ordered a new screen from ebay, however probably i will move away as i feel i have no support from SE. I am thinking of going to the HTC Touch.

The bad thing is that i dont want to leave from M600, but SE just forced me into hating the brand....

The problem with the HTC Touch is that is has no 3G and that sucks in 2007! I won't buy suck a nice little shinny crap.

@701

I don't think people are suggesting that another device will be the same or even offer the same functionality as the M600. which when i bought mine i thought it was a great looking device and had a great form factor.

I think what people are saying and are finding hard to accept is that less than a year old device is not receiving warranty repairs free of charge and by any ones standards that just can't be right or acceptable.

This new attitude of SE towards it's loyal supporters/customers appears to be forcing and losing it more users than any other single factor and it appears to not just be isolated cases but a general attitude which IMO sucks big time. Customer satisfaction and support is what makes or breaks any company and all of this negative attitude by SE will effect it's chances of continuing to grow it's market share as more people will complain and tell all of how bad service and back up is from SE this will make people will look at devices that offer the support they deserve.

just to confirm that the M600 has been available since mid June last year. Checking through my posts I see I got mine around 22nd June.

So the M600 is more than a year old however any manufacturer should support a device for a year (or whatever the warranty period is) after they cease production IMHO.

The "updates in the pipeline" quote comes from just one, seemingly misinformed email from SE customer support. It's been jumped on by the OP and substituted as the thread title, but in fact every message both before and since this email confirms that there are to be no further updates for the M600i.

Personally, I'm entirely satisfied with that - the M600i on current firmware is fine, and no less reliable/stable than any other phone I've ever owned.

i have to agree that my m600 is fully functional - it has been since 2 or 3 updates ago. Dont think there is any need for furture updates as the m600 IMHO is as stable as my p910 was.

i'm also really glad that this stability has been passed to the p1i
