Been using the P990i for 2 weeks almost 3 now. Been hearing lots of bad reviews about the phone despite that i bought it. Love it, and i'm with most of you guys hopping SE hear's out cry and release a stable firmware ASAP at the mean time i am facing few problems with my P990i:

1) is there anyway i can save my contacts on the phone and sim card simultaneously? and how can i check my contact details like how i used to di it at the w900i.

2) been facing lots of problems with the opera default browser login to pages like http://www.hotmail.com it says java script is needed, but when i check at the settings pages java script is enable and checked. another website is www.friendster.com whenever i key in my password and username and click LOG IN, it just loads awhile and comes back to the same page. anyone have the same problem with me. sorry for the poor grammer! my first post btw

My P990 has the same firmwares as yours, and browses fine. Just opened those 2 sites, no problem. I'd suggest reflashing after formatting internal disk, then redo all settings manually, or return unit for replacement.

To format the disk, anytime the dialler is active, using the jog dial for up/down and keypad or screen for *, do

up * down down * down *
The Service menu should open, allowing you to format the disk. Of course, you'll lose everything on the disk (including problems).

Does it have anything to do with your service provider or any proxy settings?

Bear in mind each internet connection has a different proxy setting.
You need to look under your service provider's settings for proxy preferences.

Do it and let's go from there. BTW, hotmail.com is working fine on my P990i.

Any ideas what i should look out for i am not too literate in all this proxy thingy. i just went to my ISP site and requested for an automatic setup for my 3G settings.

Season's Greetings, folks!

@mcyumii: Maybe there's a problem with the internet settings. Please answer 3 questions: Can you browse to any site at all without wi-fi? (bbc.co.uk is reliable and simple.). What sim-card are you using? What internet settings are you using?

@anne74: You can go ahead and Install anyway. That just means that Micro$oft hasn't tested the program. It works fine for me and loads of others.

If you're worried about breaking windows, you could always create a restore point beforehand. That way, if Windows doesn't like the pc suite, you can uninstall it then go back to the restore point. If you need details, do Start > Help and Support and search for restore point.

Call your service providers CS and have them send the settings to you for auto setup. And go from there.

or visit sonyericsson.com and follow Phone Setup. In any case, go to the phone's [l]Internet settings[/l] and make sure it's using the right account.

For instance, my network (O2) sent me settings for dial-up, pay-as-you-go and pay-monthly. You may need to try each to find the right one.
