I'm not sure if it is just the Orange software or not, but I have had a *lot* of crashes doing very normal things:
* calendar crashes when I try to open it
* contacts crash when I try to open them
* Web crashes 50% of the time I try to open it
I've also noticed that Orange have removed, intentionally or not, the 'hardware buttons' option in the control panel.
Is everyone else having the same problems? |

I called Orange last night to report the problems I'm having (no RSS reader, no 'hardware buttons' menu option, crashes, the crippling Homescreen application), and was told I needed a SIM update. After questioning it, I said to send the SIM update but also pass my queries to the technical team for further analysis.
Predictably, the SIM update did nothing at all, so I'm now awaiting a call from the technical people...
I've added a new thread to capture the Orange UK P990 Defects.

i called them up last friday the day it was released and they said they got 2000 in stock and by 7pm they were down to 400 or something. Mine arrived tuesday in the end.
Shame about the branding.

Might try and call again today.
Does anyone know how many people they have in the North East call centre?
Just feels like I've spoken to some of the geordie lasses in Upgrades/Disconnects more than once
They might bump me down the list for pestering them....damn the power they wield over the new-technology hungry!!!! |

just a note,
i got my bill this morning, and an upgrade fee of £250 was added to my bill to make a whopping £494.93 monthly bill!!
An error aparently, and they have refunded my account, but i have to cancel my direct debit and apply again.
check your bills, i had a free upgrade...!!!
on the phone side of things, im having to run a 5 sec video constantly in the background just to make the phone fast enough to use.
the sooner someone develops a branding wipeout utility the better....then i can get my 'in progress' apple theme on it |

@vincebio
turn off the Jot hand writting recognition, it should improve performance. Also try doing a back-up then a Master Reset and restore.

as for the upgradding person..
a few steps to get round it..
1) go in, ask if they have P990is.
2) ask to see one.
3) say you'll take.
4) oh btw its an upgrade..
and if they give you the bull that its had a new sim see if it says it on the box, and if they whinge about commission, tell em you need to sell one to get one more in stock...

thanks for that...i PM'd you but its now off!
why does the phone need a video playing in the background to speed it up though?
is there anyway to speed up the phone without dong this?
ive already master reset etc, and im on new firmware, ive also got nothing running apart from the media player on the task manager....
help appreciated..
is this just Orange or is it the same on Voda as well?
otherwords, is it pointless callin Orange about it?
