I really do want to change the CDA etc to get my P990 unbranded. I know cpw etc won't do it. But surely Orange stopping them from doing and stopping SE from doing it is a bit of a grey legal area? Any lawers out there.

Because if I was to buy myself out of my contract, the phone is mine... all mine. And I should at that point be able to do what ever I want with it, but orange would still prevent this. Am I correct with this?

Hey guys I have now had my phone for 24hrs and loving every minute of it!

The downfall is no RSS and No additional progs preloaded on the mem stick .... oh yeh also we have no hardware button *what ever that is*

My WIFI worked straight away with the linksys unit and I have no crashed or problems at all. Its very very fast when browsing

The phone is surprising lighter and feels great (but the p910i was a better build quality) The orange branding is not too bad TBH.

I switched off 3g

The Battery life is fine a little better than my p910i unit.
I'm off to find a case for this now!

Im still on talk 200 and the phone was free (18 mths new contract )

The Card scanner is fantastic and accurate - the Camera is very good.

Why is that... do we know?

Think I'm starting with a battery fault on mine... left work with about 66% after charging via USB from my laptop. I got home and it was at 9% after about an hour in the car - not using tomtom!!!( or anything else!!)

GREAT!!!

I want to love this phone, I really do, but.... Grrrrrrr

Thats why i hate Orange branded phones, they really over do it and there's no need for it. What happens if you change themes!

My phone is locked on Orange and I'm currently waiting for a code from Orange to get it unlocked!

They can't legally force you to use their SIM on the phone as far as I'm aware.

@peterkay

the theme does nothing to get rid of the branding strip on the left hand side !!

this phone seems less stable than my first p800 and p900 !! [addsig]

I have just got my Orange P990i upgrade and the customising is rather "flat" compared to the generic.

On my P910i, I was able to access the internal file system using SMan and rename the two Orange customisation files from the PROM-like internal memory area. This resulted in the dull Orange icons being replaced with the Sony Ericsson defaults, which were much more colourful and visible.

I'll see what's possible with the P990i.

Here is a review of the (Pro version) Swiss Manager product referred to above. I'll try removing the customisation with the free version and report back at some point.
