the SE centre still says that chinese writing software is not available yet.

read from another forum that Malaysia's set are also with Chinese input enabled.

I hereby confirmed authorised sets in Malaysia comes with Chinese. At least mine did. There's a sticker on the box when I purchased it. And sure enough, when I switched on the phone for the 1st time, I was asked whether I want Simplified Chinese or UK English.

Writing, might be a bit slow.

But I use PinYin, with the onboard QWERTY keyboard with the flip removed to type Chinese text messages. Quite fast when compared to normal phones like the K800i with traditional phone keypads.

I actually out of town whereby my P990i is at home, so I'll check when I get back.

(Reason for not using it is that I already asked a friend to help me sell it. So I want to keep it in as good a condition as possible.)

I'll check out the CDA when I get back, and startup memory is around 10.xMB if I am not mistaken.

Many thanks!

The language patch is working 100% erro-free and smooth. The operation of my P9901 is stable and better than before. Overall the display fonts is smooth-edge and better fit the screen after Chi lang patch installed.

Any P990i English version user agree with me?

Did you do an update on SEUS?
mine is showing as CDA162007/2
Did you in anyway have the software for Chinese writing in your memory stick as preinstalled application?
Cos as what i understand chinese writing is only being supported as 3rd party application for P990i but not as a firmware in the phone.

Hi all, I did a download from this forum...and verified that it's entirely the same as what Sony Ericsson service center has given me.

Had also did a search on the net, and found that this software has been flowing around the net since july 06 or perhap even earlier.

Has gotten quite abit of info from a chinese-based forum http://sebbs.it168.com/thread-217960-8-3.html

When i first gotten the software today, i felt the font looked different...on further reading on the net, i realised that I'm not able to differentiate between read or unread SMS as there is only regular fonts (ie no bold, italics,or bold-italics)...and the font is not to my liking.

I made some modifications to the originals files that i had using font creator 5.5 http://www.softpedia.com/get/[....]ils/Font-Creator-Program.shtml ( or any software that can edit true type fonts *.ttf).
The changes that i've made are in 2 areas :
1)Change font type to Arial
2)Edit the 4 identical *.ttf files, to include regular, bold, italic and bold-italic representations of the fonts

Now the headache....how do i upload it????

The file is hosted at box.net., direct download @ http://www.box.net/index.php?[....]shared_file&file_id=f_20238825

Warning to all!! Check that the size of the fonts does not exceed the amount of free RAM on startup!(14Mb for P990 & 18Mb for M600 & W950) Otherwise your phone will become stuck in a continuous reset loop because of insufficient RAM.
Easy to fix for those with memory cards, hard to fix for those without(W950).
