Reading Chinese Text in P990 |

For those of you who need to read chinese characters on P990i.
The following is the update that you will need.
Please refer to the link and download the attachment .

Instructions for installation chinese language
1. Connect your M600i /P990i to your PC via file transfer mode.
2. In the root of your M2 stick's assigned drive letter, create a folder named: Resource
3. Now go into Resource folder, and create a subfolder named: Fonts
4. Copy all 5 files into ResourceFonts folder and reboot the phone.
Currently no software as yet to write Chinese On P990i.

Thanks. Downloaded successfully.
Based on file sizes, these appear to be the same files that were avaliable on other forums earlier.
While it enabled Chinese display, P990i using these fonts will loose the capability to display italic & bold, and thus the mean to visually differentitate between read & unread messages. |

ya ... its a pity... but at least you can read chinese from it.
Is there any other typefaces available for download?
I got my font set from Sony Ericsson. |

Confirm it works... however it makes the phone feel really sluggish.
I can do without reading chinese on the phone, but the best thing to do is to somehow get the language pack from the Hong Kong phones. |

that will be great ... thats means we should be able to get an update for chinese writing soon.
Is the phone sluggish with the Chinese fonts?
I dont feel much differences.

The chinese software is tentatively towards the end of the month and the blackberry as well as the new firm ware is tentatively in 2 weeks.

i installed the chinese fonts. but for some reason, it's not working. i don't get it! the chinese fonts still show up as squares. |

I hereby confirmed authorised sets in Malaysia comes with Chinese. At least mine did. There's a sticker on the box when I purchased it. And sure enough, when I switched on the phone for the 1st time, I was asked whether I want Simplified Chinese or UK English.
