How unlucky am I?
I tried to activate Gprs via sms by sending portal to 3733, but i got a reply saying its only available for postpaid users. I was then told by cc that i have to send GPRSE to 333 . When I sent it, I received a message shortly that my gprs and mms facilities are activated. But despite of this, I could not see the Gprs indicator on my phone . And they sent me settings which are
Apn : bsnlwap
IP : 10.31.54.2
Port : 9401
Username : ppp
Password : ppp123
Now I noticed that the gprs signal appears only when i travel outside my town and that too only within cities. This means that not all bsnl towers r data capable. This sucks and show us how cheap they r. It wouldnt surprise me to even know that this is due to a bigtime scandal on mobile tower equipments involving the BIG RATS in the telecom dept. I duno when civilization would arrive at my town so that i could use bsnl gprs on my mobile

@jingboyx you should try getting portal settings from www.cellone.in/select.html and on reviewing your settings my instinct says that those are for paid full gprs. I think the sms on 3733 are free from prepaid. So try sending portal repeatedly to 3733 and there are chances that your gprs gets activated. And it is true that not all towers of bsnl or any mobile operator support gprs or edge. But by the grace of god i haven't as of now faced any tower related problem of gprs.

@luckyros use the proxy as 192.168.51.163 and port as 8080 if that doesn't work then use
Apn: portalwest.cellone.in
proxy: 10.132.194.196
port 8080

thread
Hi guys,
I tried the multiple connection trick for my prepaid account and tried downloading some stuff. I checked my balance later and I was deducted the amount worth my usage, so it is pretty clear the trick doesn't work or I didn't do it the right way. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.... |

I have full GPRS activated on my account, but as mentioned, I can't still use the multiple connection trick.
Once again, any help on this would be very much appreciated. |

@rankwil the activation of full Gprs itself is a problem. The Bsnl people are directly connecting you to the Gprs server instead of using the trick to connect to the server. So what i suggest is that you get your full Gprs unregistered .. And get only the portal service activated..
@rishi bro....check your pm.. Actually i pmed you be4 checking this..

@rishi i can bet a grand that you aren't makin the multichanneling thing to work , you have to create two data accounts. Read my very first post in this thread. Quick to these settings apn celloneportal proxy 198.168.51.163 port 8080 and who told ya to use www.n.pr (thats for the full Gprs but its the paid thing.)so obviously you'll be charged if you use that. Gprsnorth.cellone.in isn't working in up because the network upgradation is still awaited. First deregister your full Gprs and get your only portal service activated. This trick is working perfectly for me. Just create two profiles and use the settings i told ya. What handset are you using? Btw am from the same city.. (don't write the name here.. Breach of privacy, bro..) and what do you do? Am in class 10.reply these by private message only.if you want you can add me on yahoo messenger.. Am Smartyguyintown there... All the best..

Firstly for checking if your phone is multi channeled or not.. Perform the pc thing. Ie. Establish connection with pc... Then pick your phone and orn web.. Open any site like google.com . If it says no server access or access denied .. Then your phone is multi channelled.. But if it says end existing packet data connection then its not. Use rediff bol.. It takes very little memory..
