Hey didn't you read the ones giving on the very first page. First read the main parts of the thread. Don't bluntly ask for the solutions. No offence but it ain't a request box where you ask for settings and people are working here as call centre executives to provide you with solutions. God help those who help themselves.

Hi shivam007

i tried to connect to internet via pc on my bsnl pre-paid conn. using the bsnl-gprs for which the settings are--

apn : celloneportal
ip: 192.168.81.163
port : 8080

then i dialed at *99***1# but it showed
dialing...
verifying username and password..

and then it gave this

registering your computer on the internet...

Error 734 : The PPP link protocol was terminated

Plz help me , what am i supposed to do?

I even tried using bsnl-wap (by which i can browse internet on my phone) but it gave the same error.

Plz help i am in desperate need for this

It seems you've entered the ip in the tcp properties.
Btw you must have the portal service activated only, then i think you should make a new connection. Don't enter anything besides the number which is *99# and then dial. Thats It. For further steps see my very first post.. Use nokia connection manager, if you are using nokia, to enter the apn.

No shivam , u got it wrong

i've read all your posts and the settings (such as apn,ip and port no. ) were provided by BSNL thru customer care , i didn't change them .

what i've done actually is --

1. created an internet connection with "connection using modem or ISDN " without any password and the no. to be dailed as *99#/*99***1# (as u had specified in earlier posts)

2. connected my phone thru data cable

3. Followed the two access point trick as narrated by u

4. got the free internet working on my cellphone

5. then i dailed the connection from PC leaving username and password fields blank

4. Then got the *ukcing error 734 while "registering your computer on the internet"

Now what should i do??

i've explained every single step to u.temme what can be done?

@loku bro, i didn't got the opportunity to hook on the pc because of my board exams. Can you again brief me about your handset.. And i presume you are using the trick given by me in this thread in the very first post.
I suggest you to use some software like nokia connection manager rather than manually making the connection.
All the best.

Hey man, if possible .. Can you publish screen shots of your connection. And your modem's extra initilisation command. Btw try connection with the sim case of some other operator. If it connects ..then it will ensure that you have configured your modem properly..

the speeds have certainly shown a sharp decline. It seems bsnl guys have imposed a cap limit. Last month i downloaded 750mb+data. Too bad couldn't complete a Gb. Speeds are less than Airtel... Like 80kbps or less

For all the ppl who have been experiencing problems in connecting to GPRS in BSNL can follow the following points.

# Open System Properties (Win Key + Pause/Break is the easiest way to do this). Click on Hardware tab and then on Device Manager button.
# This will open a window where all the hardware on your PC is listed. Click the ‘+’ to expand the Modems and select the “Standard Modem over Bluetooth or USB DATA cable#x”
# Double click on it. The Properties window for this modem willopen. Click on Advanced tab. In the Extra Initialization Commands textbox fill – “AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","bsnlsouth"” .Without this string the computer will not connect to the Internet, but it will throw a PPP Link error. Please note that the “bsnlsouth(or whatever applies” mentioned above is the access point name (apn)in your GPRS connection settings of your phone.

I read these points from someother site which i don't remember.
I am sure this will work for u.

Hi Shivam ,

This is abhishek , from Andhra Pradesh thanks for ur trick and such a patinet responce to all the queries ... . I have read all posts about this free WAP in bnsl and tried to configure that in N70 mobile with a prepaid connection with GPRS activated .

I have followed everything u have wrote in your first post and i open portal site in the web and changing the accesspoint in opera and when i get back to web and when i try to open some site im getting the error " Access denied " in the web and only able to open the portal site .

I think i can notice multi channel GPRS on the Up left corner it is showing me two arrows and in the down arrow followed by two branches which implies multi channel i guess

But when i use ur proxy and apn setting im getting error message " System error " So i need to use my default seeting given by BSNL

Please help me . If possible please pm on my mesenger my id : abhishek.engnr@yahoo.com
