but i have to say despite of coming out with 1 model afta 2-3 years it sells amazing !! you have to agree with p910i ...even after 9500 had wifi and everything people in mumbai iv seen had more p910i den anyother sony ericsson cell phones..yes..its true...

wherever i use to go , for clubbin, offices, college etc everywhere i use to see p910i ...and it did beat nokia 9500...when it was launched later...even 9300i was launched after 9500 still p910i was juzz rocking the sales...

tho i wasnt so amused cause the phone itself is a class to use...!!
T200 -> T68i -> T610 -> K700i -> P910i -> W800i -> P990i -> M600i -> P1-> Nokia E71 -> X1i -> X10 -> Arc S -> Sony Z1 -> Sony Z Ultra -> Sony Z3+ -> iPhone 6 -> iPhone 7 Plus -> iPhone X -> iPhone XS Max

I cant see what they were thinking when they made a removable flip phone for the "Button haters" like me, but used up all that front surface area with a qwerty keyboard underneath it, all i want is a device with all the p990i capabillities with the LARGEST screen size physically possible within the confines of the phones frontal area, is this not obvious to SE.

maybe SE might want to consider diversifying the physical dimension of their phones ie have some with sliders like in the jam and k-jam,the software is similar but diff form factor.

If the P990 is going to be a market failure it will mainly be due to it's delayed release. Like other posters, I'm also asking myself why SonyEricsson can't release their phones faster onto the market.
I'm a former P910 owner and have no desire for the latest smartphone from I much prefer the M600.

Can someone confirm - WillTrinity have Gps? Althou I like Symbian, I am open minded. S60 is the only decent symbian out there (in numbers and stable enough). Contrary to the ideas/wishes of some members of this forum UIQ is not as stable as it used to be in its previous incarnation, while WM5 has improved a lot in a relatively short space of time. Also spec-wise the HTC Series is not that chubby anymore. I fly a lot thous days (privatety - hobby) and a powerfull GPS is must (africa is not europe) Therefore - Trinity here I come :D. Greetings from South Africa. Mario.

@mario: Most folks on here would not have used a UIQ3 device, I don't understand how you can comment on it's stability when you clearly have not used it.

@mario HTC trinity will have umts, wifi, hsdpa and edge whilst HTC Artemis will feature gps,edge,wifi,trackball- whatever that is? Looking at these WM upcoming devices it makes one wonder what the hell the R&D guys at SE are doing at the moment ,probably getting their fat cheques whilst sitting on their lazy butts PS i like SE phones if only they stepped up a gear or looked around to see whats happening and acted proportionally

Just for the record, the Motorola A920 UIQ2.1 had the following in 2003:

- AGPS
- 3G (video calling, data, etc)

And I used Wayfinder on my A920 and worked okay!

i think it would be a huge mistake to remove the p-series.

the m600 appeals to music and more teenagers, but the pxxx name has a history and i think a good one which will mean it always appeals to businessmen and others alike as being one of the best phones around.

in short if they did i probably would leave se and theres no point in removing it for a m600 type phone to replace it.

if sony is listening which i am sure they are, they should realise it has a core usergroup that will always buy it as this site shows and thus should keep the line.

I don't agree with this. I believe the W950 appeals to music/teenagers, hence the Walkman label.

While the M600i, with a QWERTY keyboard, and lack of camera (for security reasons) is clearly marketed towards the business person using a Blackberry.

Back on topic: I tend to agree with Masseur--it would not surprise me if the P990i is the last of the P series and a new series, a la the M600 or W950 size/shape replaces it.

I seriously doubt that dude if they were listening they wouldn't be in this mess and we wouldn't have wasted a year waiting for a phone with the anticipation a child has for his new toy only to have our dreams shattered by their buggiest phone yet a 1000$+ nice looking brick

and according to them it isn't released yet rofl

I'm tired of posting here and there I give up this is the last post I make concerning the p990, I touched a p990 (more than once ) and I used it for a couple of days and a friend of mine has it and has upgraded to the latest firmware, and he hates it too

we love the screen and the design but the phone is buggy and lacks software it should be priced at 400$ max not 1000$+ and even 400 is too much for it as the m600 is more functional than it is

this whole diehard fan thing is becoming really funny, I'm a sony ericsson fan I love their phones but look at the current competition 'not to mention pricing' of other manufacturers it's like buying a volkswagen that's more expensive than a bmw and saying it's better because it's a VW,

if sony ericsson gave some people here a brick and painted it silver and stuck a quickshare or p1000 sticker on it people will buy it for 1000$ and praise it

if we don't complain and state our opinions we're not gonna get new phones and they are still gonna use us as lab rats and the incompetent people who should be fired and replaced with people who know what they are doing will still work at sony ericsson and make it go further down the drain.

Wake up and smell the technology people

Well, considering i also have a Wm5 phone,i'm not changing boats as that os is very clumsy in operation(no touch screen),eats up a lot of memory and programs r scarce and undeveloped unlike uiq which offers complexity. My point being it is unlikely to shut down the P series after investing so much in the Next uiq interface...

I was waiting for the P990 but have become tired of the wait, also the fact that before release it already has outdated features. (not outdated when compared to most of the phones out today, but outdated when compared to other top of the line models - And P990 is supposed to be top of the line).
Well maybe if it was released between Oct and Dec last year as originally planned it's specs would have been top.

Adding a business card scanner to soften the dealy is not going to help especially as the scanned card needs updating to make the text readable.

Sorry but TYTN here I come.
